Just being lazy and Yelp-ing for breakfast/brunch around the airport:

https://tinyurl.com/y8so8jgo

left to my own devices I'd pick some place near the museum, like

https://www.yelp.com/biz/barbecue-ki...ast+%26+Brunch

or, a place called "Airport view" seems like a natural

https://www.yelp.com/biz/airport-vie...ast+%26+Brunch

any of the locals have opinions on these or other places nearby?

Leaving Saturday afternoon/evening and Sunday morning as unscheduled time for people to explore whatever in the area on their own.

Sunday afternoon was planning on possibly visiting Sweetwater (I also hear good things about Monday Night and Red Brick brewing but the former appears not to be open on Sunday).

Possibly an attempt at a coordinated dinner one or both of Saturday/Sunday as well.
I tend to stomp around on the north side of town, so won't have the best take on restaurants around the airport/DL museum. But schedule-wise I think the brunch>museum setup for Saturday morning/midday is perfect.

For the breweries, Sweetwater of course has the DL tie-in, so that might be our best bet. As a local, I like the smaller ones like Red Brick a bit better, but either will end up being fun. I would suggest that we only do one brewery just given their hours over the weekend. Georgia unfortunately still has some strange laws regarding alcohol producers vs. distributors.

Finally, if we decide on dinner one evening, I'm happy to help figure out and coordinate a good local option for the gang!

Can certainly play it by ear. Personally, I turn into a pumpkin right at midnight every night.

Maybe Zorak has a special "meeting code" that allows relaxed SDC & SDS privileges for DOs?!?

Unfortunately, the area near the airport is definitely not the most happening part of town. I am sure there are nice things down there, but most of the locals on this thread probably don't spend much time in the area. I went to middle and high school adjacent to ATL but don't spend much time there lately.

OK, having read up some more about it, Dwarf House it is (presumably the sit-down side of it)

Sweetwater also has the 2-for-1 deal pictured in post #54 if anyone wants to do the tour (I'm ok with just drinking though )

And maybe we could retire somewhere else for dinner after that.

For those who have PMed me about the TRACON tour, I'm renting a car for Monday (it was cheaper than starting my other rental a day earlier, shrug), so we can carpool from downtown somewhere. More details as we get closer.

(If anyone hasn't PMed me yet, please do so soon!)

Zorak,
Count me in. I obviously am not good at posting on this site, so bear with me. I PM'd you. Appears quite a few of us Atlantans live pretty close in the same area--downtown, midtown, buckhead area.

That being said, also appears we go to the airport and that's about it. So I saw this on a "Georgia Travels" show this past week, show about things and places in Georgia. This restaurant is in College Park, very close to the airport (one subway stop before airport stop). It's called Pig and Pint, www.thepigandthepintatl.com. Check it out. May be of interest.

Looking forward to meeting all of you. If davetravels gets to sweet talk his way onto an earlier flight, might be able to meet up Thursday eve. Definitely can make Saturday Dwarf House and Delta Museum.

I might be able to make the Sweetwater meet up -- arriving Sat afternoon/evening and have obligations then. Also tied up on Monday.

They're open Saturday 1-4 so could probably do that after the Delta Museum depending how long people usually spend there. Or Monday evening if anyone else is hanging around.

Pig and the Pint is pretty good and a quick and cheap Uber/Lyft ride away from the Delta Museum or College Park MARTA station. 50/50 Burger is delicious, if you're not a vegetarian or anti-pork.

I am booked on the 10 am flight out of DCA on Friday 8/11, so I should get to ATL around high noon (as opposed to low noon).

I'm up for a Sky Club Sweep on Friday afternoon, doing it in order this time: T6; A17; A-CenterPoint; B; C37; D12; D27; E; and F-SkyDeck. Also, getting an adult beverage in each club.

Also, does anyone have a promotional code for a good discounted rate at one of the airport hotels (I liked the Hilton when we did the 2010 DO)?

As far as nightlife near the airport, the FAs at the 2010 DO told us that a popular hangout for Delta FAs was Spondivits, which is a stone's throw from the Hilton at the airport.
