Touristy stuff to do in Atlanta, I did a few things when I had a project there a few years back.

I highly recommend the Georgia Aquarium.
My visit included a behind-the-scenes-tour, maybe that's why I liked it a lot.

Coca-Cola Museum - nothing special
CNN - nothing special

If you haven't booked your accomodation yet for the ATL do.

The Hilton summer sale is on for a few days.

Updates:

1. please add yourselves to the wiki if you are interested but not already listed (PM me if unable, although anyone with 90 days on FT and 90 posts should be able to edit it)

2. if you are interested in the ATL A80 TRACON tour on Monday morning, please PM me your first/last name as it appears on a government-issued photo ID (which will need to be presented at the time of the tour). Accurate head-count will become important as we get closer because the facility has a limit of 6 visitors per FAA escort which may depend on availability. (There is also a potential afternoon timeslot in case that significantly impacts anyone's willingness to attend, let me know )

Also if there are any DL employees/connections around who might be interested in helping us set something up for Sunday, please let us know (or feel free to PM).

I've tried a couple of my own contacts who are asking around, too, but they seem to work in the "less fun" departments down at HQ.

Do you have any additional information about this tour?
I've tried to google, but I don't really know what to expect there.
Do they have any info about tours online?

I don't have any additional specifics, so if you've Googled around, you now know as much as I do about the tour content

Noticed this in the Sky mag yesterday, maybe something to do on Sunday

Roughly one month to go -- if you expressed interest upthread and haven't already, please add yourselves to the wiki (or PM me if unable).

Also if you are interested in the TRACON tour, I'll need your first/last name as it appears on a government-issued photo ID.

Sadly looking like I won't be able to make it for the TRACON tour. Next time...

What are folks thinking for timing of the DL Museum on Saturday? The museum itself is open 10a-4:30p, but the 747 experience only runs noon-4pm.

Don't want to overplan the weekend as I'm sure folks will want to explore Atlanta a bit on their own, but if we have a critical mass for dinner that evening, we could settle on some Atlanta landmark restaurant to enjoy together.

99.9% sure that it's free (neither of the two people I've spoken to at the facility mentioned a fee, and FTer Robbyb03 who works there has previously mentioned it as being open to the public as it is taxpayer-funded)

Not sure what food is down in that area...it's not my usual stomping grounds. Depending on where people are staying we could do something in midtown/downtown.

Or we could do this: http://www.cfarestaurant.com/hapevilledwarfhouse/home

As it happens, I'll likely be doing a GE interview that morning so selfishly staying near the airport would work out well.

It's pretty easy to get to downtown or midtown from the airport via public transport.

I don't hang out near the airport much, but I do recall that one of the nearby neighborhoods has had some revival and renovation in the last decade. Might be some leads there.
