Has anyone had any luck getting a complimentary upgrade on this route?
I've thought about just buying an entire row of economy seats as the airfares to Iceland, on Delta and other airlines, can be super-cheap.

Lounge is very attractive and comfortable. Decent food and beverage offerings.

I flew the route last week in Business (specifically paid coach and using a GUC) and received an invite to the lounge.
I was largely expecting domestic F service and was pleasantly surprised with D1 Pillows, duvets, and amenity kits. They also had D1 alcohol kits. There is a single meal service which is breakfast (in both directions) which is about 2 hours before landing eastbound and right away westbound. The one thing that was definitely not D1 was the domestic first class seat.

A few weeks back, Delta was selling economy-class airfare from New York-J.F.K. to Iceland for under $400. You could have bought an entire row of economy seats and had more room because of the moveable armrests.
If I absolutely had to fly up-front, I would have used miles, not a certificate.
Also, was it an actual domestic first-class seat or was it the older business-elite seats that used to fly to Europe?
I'm surprised the meal on the return flight was breakfast as the flight to J.F.K. leaves at 10:55 a.m. Iceland time. That's basically lunch hour when you figure the meal is being served around noon.

By the way, I'm seeing business-class airfares to Iceland from Washington, Chicago, and New York airports for under $1,800 through October, according to a search on Google Flights. You could use pay-with-miles to make it even cheaper.

And the seat sadly is domestic first, not old business recliners.
