4/1/2017 NE Winter Waiver
Just got a text, totally caught me by surprise: http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_...r-weather.html
I have a LGA-DFW on 4/1 that I would rather not miss. I can reschedule, but the forecast for the NYC area really does not seem that bad?! |
Actually pretty surprised they posted waivers for the coastal airports. Going to be mostly if not all rain except for VT/NH. BOS is going to get some wet slush that will melt. Maybe wind concerns?
|
Is it wind related for NYC? The rain looks like it will be done by 8am. Even then they are not predicting winds over 20MPH. Thats not that bad...

I have a LGA-DFW on 4/1 that I would rather not miss. Sounds like maybe I should move it to 3/31? |

It could be low clouds and a low freezing height, but at this point, I don't know why they included NYC in the waiver  At least it gives many people an ability to change flights for free :) |
In an abundance of caution, I'm moving my outbound LGA-DFW back to DL 3632 on 3/31.
I don't trust LGA as far as I can throw it sadly, even if it is just 20mph winds. |

This worked out really well for me. Cancelled my flight for free scheduled to fly out of LGA.
|
I went ahead and just shifted my flight to a later morning into LGA around 1pm. At least the rain and clouds should be gone by then. I agree including NYC in this is very strange, unless they are thinking that the nearly 2 inches of rain due to fall from Friday am until Saturday am is going to cause significant cascading delays which as a NYC local I know can be awful..

Don't know about NY, but in Boston, most of the concerns seem to be centered around wind.

Not sure why NYC is included in a waiver for tomorrow... NYC seems unaffected. On the other hand, today is an awful day to be traveling into NYC with the weather. 2.5-3 hour average delays, flights canceling. Yet no waivers posted.

Indeed. That DFW flight I so cautiously rebooked early is currently sitting at a 2.5 hour delay, with no seats in F on any earlier flights, and the only viable connection through ATL is delayed as well. :roll eyes: EDIT: Aaaand, cancelled. Thanks for the weather waiver Delta. |
