Global upgrade certs use on partner airlines

Such as KLM/AF/Virgin - is there any way to monitor availability of these? I've phoned in and was told that the only way to "see" availability was to phone in and keep phoning in.....

You can tweet or use EF for at least AF and KL, don't know about VS (or VA).

www.expertflyer.com is a subscription service for award and upgrade alerts. It is commonly known as EF on FlyerTalk.

EF works great ($99 per year) for DL and KLM flights for sure. I'm watching Virgin Atlantic flights and have a email alert set but alas, never seems to have availability.

You would tweet DL but they need to follow you so you can DM them and not put all your data in a public tweet.

I depend on EF but am in that charter group that is angry at DL for cutting us off from critical ug data.

My understanding is that one can use GUCs on KL-operated flights if there is Z availability (easy to see on delta.com). If there is Z-fare availability, call Delta and they will need to transfer you to the international reissue desk to ticket, but it is a fairly painless process that typically is done within 30 min.

Also, I don't believe that you can be waitlisted on KLM.

correct. Also sometimes there is Z availability showing, but KLM does not release it to Delta. (It happened to me twice in the past 6 months. They finally did release it closer to trip date)

Dumb question but how do you search GUC on EF?

Just wanted to say thanks to you all for this post. especially NOLAnwGOLD.

I saw this, got on EF and saw GUC availability.

Called Delta and was able to get confirmed business on all legs of a KLM RT flight from NYC to DEL.

so happy.

I haven't used EF in a quite a while, but didn't Delta remove the access that EF offered? Did that change?

For the purposes of this thread (GUC inventory) no. But revenue ticket inventory as well as R/O is back on EF.
