As a PC member I will warn the noobs not to expect much. Hertz has gone downhill over the past couple of years. PC will usually get you past the line, but does not give significant upgrade in car class or quality at most locations. I am moving a large portion of my spend to National in the coming year after a number of unsavory rentals. YMMV
On a leisure trip I will not think twice at paying more for Avis or National just to stay away from Hertz. As a 5* the treatment is dismal and the cars are generally miserable (renting mainly a ATL, PHL, LGA). The ONLY reason I rent from Hertz is when work requires me to do so.
Plenty of stories over in the Hertz forum about how terrible they've gotten, including a recent and active thread about Gold/5*/PC members not having any cars available for them upon arrival and waiting 20+ minutes for one. Has happened to me several times.

Their website looks like it was designed 15 years ago and the pricing doesn't compare to National, at least for me.
But, if I can find some good pricing, who am I to pass up ~2,500 RDMs per week for a couple of months?

I did just notice that when you go through the opt-in link, it now says "Please allow up to eight weeks for your status to be reflected in your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards account."
I could've sworn that at the beginning of the offer, it was only a 6-week wait.
ETA: Nevermind. Just looked back at OP. I guess it's always been 8 weeks.

My account updated to note Gold Plus Rewards President's Circle a few days ago - I only noticed because I made a reservation through an external site and when I went to check it came through on the Hertz site I noticed the updated status. Prior to enrolling in the crossover benefit I didn't have an account with Hertz so I signed up for a Hertz account about 10 days ago. Not sure why it came through so quickly as I had fully been expecting the 6-8 weeks listed on the website.

So today makes 8 weeks, 1 day since I registered for this promo.
Was Five Star before this Promo started, still Five Star now. Naturally, I have a trip this weekend involving a Hertz rental (not that I was expecting anything glammy with an upgrade). Why can't things just work? Time for an email I suppose.
