Base Economy is such a bargain!

I love paying $20 to lose my seat assignment, medallion benefits and board last!

"Comfort" is sooo....2016. "Pay just $10 more and we will torture you with no upgrades, a cramped middle seat and last boarding. You will LOVE our Marquis de Sade Special Treatment!"

Correct, Basic Economy is $30 less. Comfort Plus is $10 less. Regardless, that is funny.

I can see the end-of-the-year posts now....

"I'm short $150 in MQMs for Diamond. What do I do?"

"Just downgrade your next few flights to Basic Economy!"

Haha, I was so shocked, did the math too fast in my head.

It seems they are maintaining E fares as their own demand bucket, which makes little sense since they are the same exact seats as the regular fares. Wish they would make E fares always (say) $20 less than the normal economy fare.

Yes, and there have been probably a half-dozen other threads started with similar observations in addition to this one and yours. There have also been threads showing Main Economy being more than C+. Most likely, someone goofed and didn't file a BE V fare that corresponds to the Main Economy V fare that is currently being offered. AA and UA are currently matching NK's $36 fares on MSP-ORD which I suspect they don't normally do. DL isn't willing to go that far, but perhaps pushed something out to be somewhat more competitive, but they likely missed adding a BE fare for it.

Kinda OT, but do you have dates on that match? I'm looking to go MSP-CHI RT early May on any of the legacy carriers.

Maybe it's a test to see how many will select something labeled in a way to make it sound like the cheapest fare without even looking at the other alternatives. Reminds me of the old trick where students receive a long list of time-consuming tasks but are cautioned to read the entire thing completely before beginning -- and of course the very last thing says to disregard everything else on the page.
