The problem with these videos is that unless they run with full audio from well before the incident until well after, it is always easy to play expert afterwards. I doubt that the cops walked up, dragged her out of seat and off the aircraft. That just seems unlikely, especially for a large international airport with its own police department which presumably trains for incidents such as this.

Bottom line, the instruction is to remove the passenger. If she will not come voluntarily, this may well have been the least damaging way to do it. Bear in mind that law enforcement has an obligation not only to the individual passenger but to all others onboard and to themselves.

I am flying through DET tomorrow morning. I will make sure that I follow the GA instructions to the letter and once on the plane I will follow all crew and/or authority figures instructions.

Actually I see nothing wrong with how the LEO handled the situation. There was no way for them to pick her up and carry her off the plane (it is hard enough to walk down those aisles). We don't know what happened off camera but we can surmise she did not follow LEO instructions and balked at getting off the plane.

Hopefully, what we saw was the passenger passively resisting. Otherwise, flaccid unconsciousness is NOT the normal result of being tazed, and would suggest a possibly serious medical complication.

Those aisle chairs only have a seat belt. What do you do if the person is flailing arms and legs?

The simple reality is, none of us know much about the circumstances which led to this incident, and we're relying on 3rd-party hearsay which likely does not represent the whole incident. It is likely that if we knew the whole story, this would make more sense.

That said, firing a tazer on a full plane seems to me on its face ill-advised and likely dangerous. Perhaps someone with more experience in such matters can advise.

I'm sure everyone wants to get to their final destination as much as I do, but I'm finding it hard to justify dragging a passenger down the aisle of a plane, for so many reasons, including security. Perhaps and likely it's a judgment call, but if we are truly so concerned with security to stop, deboard and search a plane because an elderly passenger uses the lavatory during taxi, would dragging a non-compliant passenger down the aisle, then taking off, make sense?

Whether the answer gets us to our destinations faster or not, I think the safe thing to do in this rare circumstance, is to deboard the plane.

A couple of months ago, a drunk passenger sitting next to me was quite belligerent and even threatened me. He was noncompliant with the crew and, as we were still on the tarmac, the police were called to escort him off. But...even someone like this had sense enough to follow the officers' orders and to reply to them with, "yes, sir." He walked off the plane under his own power.

It's crazy that the woman here continued her argument once the police came on board to haul her off (literally, for better or worse).

It happened again in Atlanta (ATL_LAX) either yesterday or the day before, there was a piece on WSB news. They dragged her off the plane too.

By DET, the person meant Detroit with its main airport being DTW.

Don't forget all posted placards. It's the placards that will get you.

Twas the point of the reply. It poked fun at fact that person isn't flying through DET, which doesn't have commercial service.

Wow, it's true. At least this woman was conscious as she was being pulled off.

For some reason, I'm obsessed with the forgotten airports of the Rust Belt, like Detroit City, Gary, Lunken, Meigs Field, Burke, Rickenbacker, etc.

Lunken has regular commercial (technically charter) service again. Ultimate Air Shuttle to MDW, BKL, CLT, and MMU. More destinations to hopefully follow.

Another fine job, PD! Looks like one more flight makes it on time. Drag them off and get us there.
