I currently have 122,000 MQM in calendar 2016. I want to role over the 47,000 miles into 2017 since my travel schedule is lighter next year (I hope). I am also about $1500 away from $25,000 of spending on my Delta Amex Platinum card. I have stopped using the card since I am worried that the 10,000 MQM will put me over the the Diamond 125K MQM threshold, although, I am not sure if that is the case or not. So, my specific question is if I make the $25,000 spend threshold later in December which gives me the 10,000 MQM bonus, will those bonus MQMs which post at the end of January or February (after the credit card statement close date in January) be retroactively applied toward my 2017 Medallion status, hence putting me over the 125,000 Diamond threshold, or will the Amex 10,000 MQM bonus be applied in early 2017 toward my 2018 Medallion status?

I'm sorry to tell you...but it will be retroactively applied to this year. That's the way it has gone in the past.

DL Amex spend is strictly Jan 1 - Dec 31 for MQM bonus and MQD waiver credit that same year, without regard to billing cycles.

You don't mention MQD. Do you already qualify for PM based on MQD or do you have an MQD waiver?

If the OP hits $25,000 spend on a DL AmEx Plat card, the MQD waiver is automatic.

Upon further reflection, there could be an issue if the OP is talking about the first 10,000 AmEx MQMs for 2016 and the OP also hasn't yet achieved the required MQDs for PM. It could become a choice between GM/FO/nothing and no rollover either versus DM with no possibility for PM due to the MQD requirement.

I have hit the MQD spend, I believe, as my account says I have 22,900 in MQD and Delta sky miles credit card spend of 23-24K. So, it sounds like the only way to avoid getting Diamond, and therefore not have rollover miles, is to not spend the last $1500 on my credit card, which will automatically trigger my first AmEx MQM bonus earned during calendar year 2016. Hate to loose the 10K MQMs I would get from the credit card spend, but I guess that's better than hitting the DM threshold and loosing all rollovers.
