What a great man and a great legacy.
I have been missing from FT for quite some time, and this is a very sad by also very worthy occasion to return. I first met Kevin in 2009 at the FT DO in Atlanta, and as he shook my hand, he said, I am very happy to help in any way that I can. At the time, I had no idea how sincere and genuine those words were. Kevin went on to help countless people, some several times over, as he truly embodied the meaning of Outstanding Customer Service. His legacy will be truly missed but never forgotten. May you Rest in Peace my friend. My sincere condolences to your family and friends.

Kevin was my point of contact at DL when I organized the Flyertalk DL Forum Lounge Do at CVG almost a decade ago. He was welcoming, friendly, funny, personable and just a great guy to work with. Thanks.

Just one more voice expressing condolences for the passing of Kevin Pinto. I only "met" Kevin via email, but he was just as helpful and gracious via email as others have reported he was in person. Kevin truly wanted to do what's right for Delta and for the customer. With Kevin on the case, both won. Thank you.

RIP
Don't believe I ever had the pleasure of interacting with Kevin, but I'm glad he was able to interact with so much of the FT community. Any loss is always a terrible one.

A story I've never fully told about Kevin Pinto, as I could never be certain about the culture at Delta:
During the absurd BNA/PIT/RDU/STL promotion of 2010, I was flying $200 multiple-segment transcons multiple times per week as a BNA-based Diamond Medallion. One day after work, I was scheduled to fly a five-segment overnight trip when all hubs except LAX and SLC were expecting winter weather to the point there was effectively a systemwide waiver.
I sent Kevin a note early in the day saying that I had five segments that had no true purpose, each touching an IROPS airport, yet I knew that DL would focus on my transportation from home back to home. I asked him if he would be able to find a way to credit me the flights and allow five other passengers the possibility of getting home, providing my word that I wouldn't seek a refund.
And it was done within minutes.
