Delta jumps Europe business class LEVEL 1 awards to 70,000 OW

Delta jumps Europe business class LEVEL 1 awards to 70,000 OW - AFTER 1JAN17

Seems the same shameless SkyMiles crew can not tell us in advance of price jumps!

It is SkyPesos, not SkyMiles. No matter what Delta says.

Granted, all of this is tea leaf reading, but @ThePinkUnicornShirtGuy, did you click on any of those lowest fares to see specifics? My thought, given the higher fees, is that those lower redemptions might be partner airline flights. Although they could be DL flights connecting through expensive airports, IME higher fees often mean partner airlines, which somehow often seem more likely to connect through airports with higher fees.

Also, pricing is dynamic, so it may be that DL is offering May seats at that price now but they will go down later if there is unsold inventory. My last three or four redemption flights have seen the points lower as the date gets closer. Fortunately, as a PM, I've been able to call, switch and get points refunded at no cost.

So a price increase on 1/1, following the price increase on 10/1?

I've been watching flights in April and May between ATL and LHR for around the last month. There were a ton of dates with 125,000 RT now they are all 140,000 RT. Seems like Delta just changed the "award chart."

So frustrating. I was just saving up for a march 2017 RT Biz trip to London open jaw, and priced out dates to fit 125,000. Just needed the next amex deposit and I would have 126,000. Now... 140,000 is needed.

I understand things change but no notice, no nothing is rather annoying and frustrating.

It's like Delta is Lucy and I am Charlie Brown...125,000 RT out in front of me and as soon as I get close, Lucy pulls the ball away and its now 140,000 RT.

Why do we keep falling for it?

Maybe, they're gonna hava mileage award sale, reduce it to 65K/130K, and tout how much of a bargain it is.

It's my fault.

I just got a Delta Amex card with the 60,000 mile offer and decided to take them up on it. Combined with my existing Skymiles, it was just enough under the old rate to get me a flight.

So, now they must devalue my miles to make sure I can't use them unless I put more spend on the card. :-(

Sorry.

The only plus I'll say is that at least that calendar is showing every day as having the "Low" availability, though I'm not sure if finding "Low" to MAN is easy or not as I haven't tried to fly there. I feel I got extremely lucky grabbing 2 95K awards on VA from LAX to BNE in February, as I've checked both LAX-BNE and LAX-SYD for what would be slightly more ideal dates compared to what I currently have and there hasn't been any additional availability at the Low rate in J to AUS around the dates I have, and I've been checking almost daily.

Remember when not very long ago that many of us said the days of affordable J award tickets is coming to an end?

Anyway, those flights at 70K are on VS partner metal, with fare basis code CSMF700. I see levels on other or DL metal with a connection for much higher.

Nope, 62,500 miles one-way awards are still available - for example I see them on the nonstop JFK-ZRH on Nov 30, Dec 15, 24, 27, 29, 30. Taxes are $5.60...

After Jan 1 2017....I bet the increase is to make up for all the miles handed out after the Delta IT meltdown.
