Winglets Removed From 757(s)?

I saw N663DN at CVG and noticed there were no winglets. I saw a photo of this same aircraft taken in 2014 and she had winglets. Why would Delta remove them?

The 757 mod thread shows it was being modified for 70 days, exiting April 25, 2016. It doesn't say there are no winglets anymore. Maybe someone in that thread can help.

Are you sure it was a 75S and not one of the new charter-configured 752s? It operated EWR-CVG as DL8848, which likely indicates a charter.

Regardless, why would winglets be removed from any aircraft?

You are correct that it was a charter 757. And yes the question remains why they would remove the winglets.

Believe I read somewhere for consistency with the rest of the charter fleet

That would be the Delta version of socialism: Instead of making everyone equal by making everyone equally poor, Delta makes certain aircraft equally inefficient.

I hope that's not really the case.

The title of the thread was most likely asking if it could be multiple aircraft that had the winglets removed. It said "757(s)" not "75S".

Yes, that's what I was asking. Sorry for any confusion. I forgot there was a "75S" variant.
