A couple of years ago during a "polar vortex." I think it was DTW-DCA. Delayed because the plane sat too long on the ground and the lavatory froze. They had to bring in another plane. Not sure why they couldn't figure out a way to unfreeze the lavatory.

Got delayed out of JAX because the TUG Operator backed the plane into the grass. Apparently the Tow Bar broke, but if you ever fly out of JAX on DL, the grass is a LONG way. Even if it did no idea why the Pilot didn't hit the brakes.

Many years ago flying out of LAX to ATL on767 and pilot could not release parking brake. Tried putting in reverse then drive, bumping no good. Tugged tried to get it loose no good, back to gate and 60 minutes later the mechanic fixed it. Fast forward and FA confirms all will make our connections in ATL
. Bused to international terminal and immediately boarded flight to MAN with several other passengers. Assured baggage would accompany us there. Did not happen, 13 pieces of luggage arrive 36 hours later. |
LGA delay last month because of Pigeon in the cockpit......

Not Delta, but back in the early 90's I was on a TWA flight from Denver (Stapleton) to STL when the door of the 727 got ripped off (mostly off) by an agent moving the jet bridge before the door was closed.
We had to get off and wait for a new plane. |
Had a two for one a few months ago.
Arrived a couple of hours early for SBN to DTW on a CR2 and saw that the plane was already at the gate. I figured we would be leaving on time. Boarding time came and went with no update from the gate agent. Finally started boarding after a considerable delay, but no explanations from the gate agent. Before takeoff, the pilot apologized for the delay saying it was the wrong aircraft. We should have been on a CR2, and in fact we were on a CR2, just not the one they expected. The delay was apparently due to "paperwork issues". The second delay was on the taxi out to the runway. Stopped partway for another delay. Finally the pilot announced that delay was due to a non-functioning flight data recorder. He got permission to make the flight anyway and we finally departed. |
An L-1011 trip in the mid-90's, SLC-ATL. In first class, an elderly man accompanied by his son had connected from BIL and on their way to BHM. Poor man looked terrible and the lead FA was concerned. The son said that yes, he was taking his father home to die but had a certified letter from a doctor saying the old gent could fly, and they'd come from BIL that morning. FA called the Capt. He came back talked to them both, looked at the letter, lead GA came on, much consulting. Wound up pushing about 10 min late.
Got into the ATL area and the Capt. announced we'd be holding for at least 45 min. possibly an hour waiting for sequencing due to a fast moving T-storm that had materialized and screwed everything up. About that time the son rang for the FA, dad wasn't doing too well. FA's called for any doctors, two responded. Too late, the poor fellow was gone. FA calls the Capt. Within two minutes the engines spool and Capt. gives the "prepare cabin for landing" announcement. We're on the ground in no time and five minutes early to boot. Of course everyone had to stay on the plane until the fellow was removed, but it was a strange experience nonetheless. |
Diaper blocked toilet in TPA. Not sure if it was baby or adult diaper . After 2 hours of delay, flight to JFK was cancelled.
