Once registered to complete enrollment bring one state approved ID to the enrollment center. You will need a valid, unamended US passport or passport card, US-issued Permanent Resident Card, a valid US driver's license, state-issued photo ID card, or a military ID. Once your identity is verified, they will scan your finger prints and get a picture of your iris.

This process takes about 5-7 minutes and can be done before a flight.

Costs:
  • Diamond Medallion® members: Complimentary
  • Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion members: $109 per year ($79 for those signed up before April 2019)
  • Delta AMEX primary card holders: $109 per year ($79 for those signed up before April 2019)
  • General SkyMiles Members: $119 per year ($99 for those signed up before April 2019)

Keep in mind Family add-on fee is just $50

You may also wish to peruse this thread in the Trusted Travelers forum: Is CLEAR worth $179 a year? (it goes beyond the question in the title, the answer to which is obviously "no" given the above pricing )

I may use that kind of language if I can make it to B during my ATL connection Tuesday morning.

The biometrics issue for me are perplexing. They never get my eyes, but that is because I have cornea transplants and have had cataract surgery.

No luck with finger prints either. I had a problem with GE until they improved their scanning equipment + I now use that D1 lotion on the flight back to the USA (like today SCL-ATL).

On occasion the thumbprints have worked but again lotion is probably needed since my skin is so dry. However, I think the CLEAR ME tech is now behind GE at least in my experience.

Yes, but CLEAR ME airports are rare for me since most of my travel is international like Romania and Chile so far with China, Germany, and Brazil on the horizon.

So I had this horrible 4 hour layover this morning in ATL and wanted to streamline my escape from DCA but now someone is going to tell me that getting to the DCA SC is a waste of time.

Got it.

I think I've also seen a suggestion to run your fingers along your forehead or through your hair to see if body oils will help, in case you haven't tried that already.

I seem to be called for "random" ID checks at LAX about 50%of the time (had six in a row for at one time), which always caused a delay because I didn't have my ID out and handy. Now I do have it handy, which seems to defeat part of the purpose of CLEAR.

As a fallen DM I am going to have to decide whether or not to pony up for renewal. Most of my trips are international and they don't have CLEAR at most of those checkpoints (yes, I know there are work arounds by exiting as if at your final destination) so we'll see...

On international arrivals when you must go through TSA airport security after exiting customs before a connecting flight, it can be handy to have CLEAR if the line is bad (or there's no PreCheck) and you decide to exit and do TSA airport security as a departing passenger.

I remember one CLEAR agent using cleaning solution on my fingers but that seemed to only make matters worse.

Cleaning solution on the glass fingerprint reader might help, but instead of using some liquid on your hands, just wipe fingers on your forehead. It really works, although most CLEAR agents don't know this.

That has been my take as well. How GE gets it right 100% of the time while Clear seems to be so problematic is striking. Similarly, the facial recognition at LHR entry kiosks is also spot on every time (different tech of course, but spot on). Heck, the cashier at my nearby Rite Aid seems to never have a problem using a thumbprint to access a register! Not to mention my phone...

But at least Clear offers an alternative authenticification option, which does work for me. So that keeps me happy.

As far as the comment on random ID checks at LAX... never once for me. And I am on several dozen LAX Clear scans. Odd.

In the last 18 months at almost all the CLEAR operations (ATL, SLC, LAX, DEN, SFO, MSP, SJC, etc etc) I would say its a 50/50 chance I will be asked for the "random ID check" it is really making me wonder if I was actually paying for Clear what the point of it is. I would say every 2 out of 3 times in ATL I end up going to the regular pre check line with my ID out as the line for clear is 2 to 3 times longer.

I wish they would be in a clear line at international at the airports. It would be a very nice benefit at ATL when you have to reclear coming off an international flight to catch a connection.

If you arrive to do immigration and customs in ATL F, you can always follow the exit signs to go upstairs and do TSA airport security there, as if you were a departing international passenger. However, before trying this, check that PreCheck/SkyPriority/CLEAR is open upstairs.

Oncewhen a big line was building up, TSA wanted people to just step to the side and wait to be herded upstairs. I went upstairs immediately on my own and they weren't real happy about it, but to me it seemed silly to just wait there and not even be in line.

I think it's stupid they don't have at least precheck for international connections.

If I do that will I have issues with Alcohol? Usually when I connect in ATL I have alcohol from Duty free and not sure if the agents upstairs will allow that to go through if its in a sealed duty free bag.

They had it at ATL when I returned from EZE last September.

PreCheck is now available in the E and F FIS checkpoints.

I stopped in the ATL B lounge this morning in route to DCA. This time I found a CLEAR ME rep willing to help me. We ended up cancelling my original account and creating a new one.

Today with lotion they provided they got all the prints. They even claimed my eyes recorded better than the prints.

When I leave DCA Sunday morning, I will learn the truth about whether their equipment has been upgraded - and if so at all stations - or if the rep just accepted readings that will not work in the real-world rush to move along.

(BTW, I test my original account at the SC desk with their little unit but got no reading before the session with the CLEAR ME rep.)
