Strange? Upgrade List
Was just wondering if anybody else thought this was strange/unusual. Flying DTW-ATL today (Monday) and right before flight my wife and I (both GM and Reserve card) were 15th and 16th out of 17th. I assume this means that there could only have been one Silver on the list.

I can't believe that a 'large hub' to 'HUGE hub' flight on a Monday only had 17 on the UG list!
 |

I'm also surprised that a Monday hub to hub flight only had 17 on the upgrade list. Perhaps the flight was at an odd time? |

Even if you're both GMs, if you're on the same PNR, IIRC your upgrade priority would below all DL elites without companions. So you'd be below FOs unless the FO had a companion. Partner elites would still be below you.

I rarely, if ever, travel with a companion, but, I thought the UG priority was based on the lowest level Medallion on the PNR, thereby, in this case, the GMs should be in line with other GMs?
|
So, under your scenario, I guess they should've either, booked separately, or split the PNR?

There are two different cases: Two medallions on a single PNR: Upgrade will clear at the lowest medallion window, so in this case, they should have cleared at the GM window. Medallion + non-medallion: Upgrade will clear after the last FO and before any other partner (Skyteam, SPG, AS). If only 1 seat is available, the PNR is skipped and the next single passenger in the list gets the upgrade. |

My husband and I are both DM, and both always travel together on the same reservation. We clear together regularly, and probably are passed over when there is just one seat. We clear with other DM tho, not after all other elites clear.

This is in response to the above posts about my OP.
We have both been GM for a while and clear together, when it happens, at the GM time or earlier on rare occasions. No doubt about that. We don't split the PNR because we want to sit together. Yes, that means the computer could pass us by. However, since upgrades go to the gate more often these days, it not a problem because we have had the GA call us up and ask if we want to take the one remaining upgrade. We make someone else happy (one time they were standing at the counter and thanked us and sent us drinks). In regard to the short upgrade list, this was DFW-ATL at 2:57 PM on Monday. |
