738 1A or 1D
Hey there quick question..I don't have time to research.. Seat guru isn't a help. Flight in an hour. My choice is 1A or 1D on a 738.. Any difference between the two? Thanks!

Not that I can recall....the decider for me would be the view you'll get on takeoff (based on what direction you see planes taking off currently) and landing (like at LAX you know you'll usually be landing to the west so 1D would provide views of downtown, the Hollywood sign etc). Not sure what route you're on though.

San-slc. Don't care really about the view so much., it's nice of course but was wondering about an unmentioned foot cut out or a little extra room on one side... Thanks!

Id look at the seat map and pick the seat that already has someone sitting next to you. The reason is you could easily pull someone with a dog or medical equipment if there is an open seat. Petty yes.... Feel free to flame away.

No difference IMO. But should you find a seat opens up in a row further back between now and departure, I'd jump all over that. 737 bulkheads are no fun.

If I am going to be working (on my laptop), I usually pick the right side of the plane for window seats and the left side for aisle seats.
More of an issue in the back, I guess - but I am right handed, and those choices keep me from needing to worry about my elbow wandering into my neighbor's space. |
on a morning SAN-SLC flight the sun will be streaming in the right side window, so you will more than likely have to lower the shade in 1D
edit: never mind, missed OP's "it's in an hour" ... but I think my point about considering sun location is still pretty universally valid |

I suspect that the OP either SDCed into FC on the flight or was just upgraded. In either case, 1A and 1D are the only FC seats left as window bulkhead is considered the least desirable type of seat by many FC passengers.
But what's with the protruding monitors on the bulkhead wall on the 738 in row 1? The screens are small yet they stick out maybe 4 inches from the wall. The technology isn't that old..my 55" flat screen at home isn't as thick as those things.. what gives? |

Can't remember if it's the 738 or 739, but in one of them 1D is much, much better than 1A. 1A is very close to the wall and there is no cutout. 1CD are a few inches further from the wall and at 5'5"ish I have more than enough room. |
