Dinner around ATL Airport

Greetings, I will be meeting some friends in ATL. We all arrive around 5pm and leave the next morning. Looking for a good place to eat dinner that is close to the airport as we are all staying at airport hotels. It was a chance meeting as we are all flying through there for different reasons. Anything good close by? Thanks for the suggestions!

Eeeh... not that I know of. The area around ATL isn't exactly a destination for fine dining. I would either go to the Dwarf House because I looove some Chik Fil A or make a reservation at the restaurant at Porsche because I love Porsches even more.

Other than that, you have plenty of time to go into the city. Midtown has tons of fantastic restaurants.

If anyone else knows anything around ATL, feel free to enlighten me. I just don't know anything around there.

Agreed that the area around ATL isn't very good. I'd stay in the airport itself and eat at One Flew South in Terminal E. Hard to believe that place is an airport restaurant with how good it is.

For a casual dinner, I'd recommend Malone's Bar & Grill. For a more upscale meal I'd recommend Simon's Steakhouse. Both are on the north side of the airport. Malone's is right on Virginia Ave within walking distance of many of the airport hotels.

Marriott "Gateway" Hotel. It's right on the tram.

Urban Foodie Store is pretty decent as well.

My office is next to the airport and I'd have two up-to-date recommendations:
Manchester Arms is on Virginia Street, a short distance west of "the strip" of tired buildings. Leafy green neighborhood, upscale pub atmosphere, patio, excellent food.
Pecan on Main Street in College Park. Fine dining, excellent food.
Both are easy cab/Uber rides, less than 5 mins. from airport hotels.
Other thoughts:
Marriott Gateway hotel is decent food, sparse menu, $$, very good service staff.
Pig and the Pint worries me, it has changed hands and formats three times in five years.
One Flew South excellent inside the airport.
Oddly my favorite barbecue in GA is the Barbeque Kitchen, wedged into the strip on Virginia. Cash only, with all that implies.

I'd try to make it up to ATL - there are a few areas on the southern part of the city that can offer amazing options (for a $12 UberX ride). What cuisine/atmosphere are you looking for?

Even though I live in Atlanta, I have done what you are doing many times. I meet friends and clients near the airport for meetings, lunch and dinner.

All the above choices people mention are excellent...no wrong answer on any of them. However, by far, the favorite of people I have met and had dinner with was the restaurant at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel. That is that hotel that sits right at the north edge of the airport, with awesome views of the planes landing and taking off at the airport.

Yes, it is in a hotel, but the food is very good, as well as a very good bar. If everybody is on an expense account, spend the night there, and you are set to go. (get an airport side room if you want to watch all the action from your room).

Again, no wrong answer on any of the choices mentioned. Enjoy.

I second Malone's for general pub fare.

Pleasantly surprised by Volare Bistro in Hapeville.

We've been to Brake Pad http://www.brakepadatlanta.com/ a couple times when we needed to eat near the airport - good for a burger and some beers. I'd recommend it if you need that and want casual burgers and beers...
