Question about website upgrade request

I'm new to the Delta Elite program, so this may be a newbie issue. Yesterday I booked two round trip flights and after booking, I checked the "Upgrade Request" button. For one of the round trips, the upgrade request status turned into a green check mark with "Upgrade Requested" stated. On the other flight, it said "Unable to Process at this time" in red and didn't change the upgrade request status.

Is there something else I should be looking at or checking?

I personally wouldn't trust the online system to properly put you on the upgrade list. Give Delta a call and have the agent request an upgrade for you.

Pretty much par for the course with their 'new and improved' system involving the botched Comfort+ rollout.

Requesting an upgrade and getting one are of course two different issues.

Your status being the biggest factor. Next biggest is - Can Delta sell that seat instead.

You may also want to scroll down the page for posts about some upgrades are from Econ to Econ Plus or whatever name it is today.

Totally understand that. It's easy to promise upgrades "if available" when you control how much is available.

I'm not new to the overall elite status game, I was a United Premier for years but haven't been flying as much for a while.
