I too have a flight out of T3 at 8.45, atleast that is what it says. But I have to check in some suitcases. so I plan to do it in T2 at the Delta One Counter and then ask about the lounge in T3. I may go into T2 for a walk, everyone is posting pics and looks nice in there. then take the bus.

looks like T2 is the nicer terminal right now. you can check in T2, use the lounge there and head over for your flight out of T3. here will be shuttle service inside the secure area. if you are checking in person, I'm sure there will be someone to ask about T3 lounge. then decide to either walk outside or take the bus.

Did you scroll back a couple of pages?
See my posts 601, 602, 603 and 604 with photos (T2 etc)
And yes, I am well aware that the SkyClub will look different once changed to meet DL's needs.

I think a really impressive part of all this is that many of the DL employees helping with the move are volunteering:
“I’m a Delta person through and through. It was important for me to be here. I just wanted to be part of it. It’s been hard work and long hours, but I’m grateful to have the opportunity to help passengers.”
How cool is that?

Let's be real with the praise here. Over 20 years ago at DEN, an entire airport was moved overnight. I think other airlines could handle this LAX move too.

I'm dreading having to fly out of T3. I suspect that's going to be the terminal they stuff all the regional/west coast flights in, so I fear I'll be condemned to sit out all my future rolling delays for Seattle flights in an environment that's even less comfortable than the T6 regional gates were.
I understand they need those gates right away, but if I were DL i would have figured out how to fit the operation into T2 at first and done a full gut job of T3 from day one. It has major layout issues that I believe are unfixable without essentially full demolition of the gate area; I have no clue how they are going to turn it into an acceptable facility though piecemeal renovation if the rotunda layout remains.

IIRC from what I'd read, the plan is to use TBIT common use gates to backfill while that happens. What's the dependency that prevents them from doing that upfront? Are they waiting for the connector to get built first, for example?

1) reducing the schedule
2) waiting till 2020 at the earliest for the additional TBIT gates to move over/displace other airlines into.
Just T2 would be a reduction of 4-5 gates IIRC. That would put the flights per gate at an impossible number. It was already the highest in the system at 10 to 11.
Eventually, they're going to have to take T3 offline to fix it, though. The way it's laid out, you can't make major changes while using a meaningful number of gates...
