Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

Pretty impressive project:
- Delta will undertake the second largest private infrastructure project in the LA basin and completely redevelop Terminals 2 and 3 over the next seven years

I think this confirms that the airside shuttle to T5 will only operate during the move:
- Immediately following the move, Delta customers will enjoy faster and more convenient connections to flights operated by Delta’s joint venture and SkyTeam partners in Terminals 2, 3 and TBIT via an airside bus that prevents customers from having to leave and re-enter the secure area
Am I understanding it correctly there will be an airside shuttle connecting T2/T3/TBIT but only for Delta & Partners? Would that shuttle be usable by customers flying Alaska and then connecting to Delta, since TBIT is connected to T4-T8 now? It would be quite a long walk for sure even this will be possible.

There is a not a logical reason DL would run a shuttle from airside Bradley to airside T2/T3 because all SkyTeam and partner arrivals into Bradley would require immigrations & customs before landside exit.

DL will have TBIT gates at some point. Plus the shuttle has to go back.

No, DL will not have domestic arrivals at Bradley (and a domestic arrival is the only logical usage scenario for a DL passenger at airside Bradley needing to go to airside T2/T3).

The DL shuttles dropping-off at Bradley may go on break, may serve another route.

There may not be an airside agent at Bradley airside to facilitate boarding onto a DL shuttle for which there is no logical usage scenario. The bus agent may be outside, directing passenger off the bus.

I perceive a need for TBIT to T2/T3; those arriving on partner flights connecting into TBIT connecting to DL could use the (generally) much faster TBIT security accessed from the arrivals level and tack the bus.

this: the extremely logical reason is that arriving pax continuing on DL domestic flights could get to T2/T3 a lot faster on an airside shuttle if they re-clear security after immigration/customs at TBIT ... unless it's at 0230, the LAX airline connector bus probably takes 20-25 min to go all the way around the loop (TBIT-->T4-->T5-->T6-->T7/8-->T1-->T2-->T3)

walking would probably be faster yet, but I'd guess not many international-->domestic pax with more than a standard size rollaboard and a personal item would generally do that

it is 500 feet from Bradley international arrivals north (w/o checked luggage) to T3 departures

maybe 1000 feet from Bradley international arrivals south (w/ checked luggage)
the walk would be without checked luggage as DL has an agent at Bradley international arrivals south for connection assistance and baggage re-check

it would take a special kind of lazy (and stupid) to think it easier or faster to enter airside at Bradley south lower, walk an equal or more distance to the far north Bradley departures gate, wait for and then transit via shuttle to T2/T3.

no argument at all for "w/o checked luggage" but I suggest there are far more intl-to-domestic pax who don't fall into that category

I checked in today for my flight to LAX tomorrow on the ios app. When I pushed check in, a special message about LAX appeared before I could continue with check in. Good job Delta.

Help! So I'm in the air between DCA-LAX arriving into t5 and my LAX-SFO just moved to t3. Shuttle says 55 mins but my connection is 30 mins. Do I run between terminals?

I think shuttle is still your best bet.

As a FT participant, you should have fixed this before now, your post count will be lowered by 500 posts as a penalty.

LAX-SFO is pretty frequent, you have lots of options.

expertflyer is showing DL4926 today departing T3 Gate 30 today. Very odd.

your DCA flight arrives early at 813pm. with TSA Pre, I'd make it from T5 Gate 58, outside upper level, turn left, walk past T4, past Bradley, to T3 upper TSA Pre, to the first gate on the left by 845pm. Good luck, dude!

I tried! I was booked DCA-JFK-SFO, but DCA-JFK was massively delayed

that's what I was thinking. Shuttle shows it takes 45 mins so it's out of the cards. Hoping for a Porsche ride but if not I'll run as you suggest. According to @deltaassist the move started earlier today.

UPDATED

your DCA flight arrives early at 813pm T5 Gate 58

expertflyer is showing DL4926 today departing T3 Gate 30 today 9pm

however, expertflyer is showing DL4925 the inbound SFO-LAX arriving into T6 Gate 60 825pm
very odd - my instinct is T6 Gate 60 is the DL4926 departure gate tonight

if so, easy connect airside T5 to T6.

if DL4926 is really from T3 (highly doubtful), then, with TSA Pre, I'd make it from T5 Gate 58, outside upper level, turn left, walk past T4, past Bradley, to T3 upper TSA Pre, to the first gate on the left by 845pm

Good luck dude
