Delta celebrates Seahawks, tells Vikings to pound sand

A couple hours ago, @Delta tweeted in support of the Seahawks, who play the Vikings in the playoffs this weekend.

Tweet: https://twitter.com/Delta/status/684835559504625664

Predictably, this has gone over about as well as if Delta eliminated its MSP flights to sunshine destinations in the winter.

DL will be like most Seahawks fans - bandwagon. The moment either 1) the Seahawks start to lose or 2) DL withdraws from the SEA hub, DL won't give a hoot about the Seahawks. Seattle - why all the "12's" everywhere in SEA? - because there's only 12, true, loyal Seahawks fans in Seattle. The rest are riding the bandwagon until it breaks down.

At first I thought no big deal - being from Seattle I know Delta is the Seahawks official airline.

But they are also the Vikings official airline? AWESOME

I don't know about bandwagon fans, but I would not go to the game as a fan of either team.

Temp should crawl all the way up to 0F by second half.

Windchiill at -20F for kickoff.

Would have been nice to have the new stadium already open.

Mostly I think this is silly, but Delta definitely put its foot in its mouth here. It's the official airline of both teams for crying out loud!

Wasn't DL going to be MSP's "new" hometown airline?

Them fellers in marketing are none too bright.

DL has a little too much love for Seattle IMO.

Besides, I always thought it was odd to see Seattle fans wear Tom Brady's number during the last Super Bowl. I guess they must have really fond memories of Sam Adkins.

Another example of a "foot in mouth" tweet from DL, although I guess it's not as bad as the one about breast feeding a while ago.

Isn't good judgment (or even common sense) a criteria for being hired for the DL twitter team?

The Vikings fans are not travelling, Seattle will be flying on <7 day ticket purchases. Delta wants to motivate the fans that have to drop some cash.

If you want "weird" when it comes to sports, go to a Columbus Blue Jackets hockey game. A huge portion of the fans show up wearing Ohio State gear. It's especially funny when the Jackets are playing the Detroit Red Wings, because the crowd is chanting anti-Detroit and anti-Michigan chants throughout the game (because the game is in Columbus, Ohio, after all), but wearing Detroit Red Wings colors.

Is that a way to rationalize the fact that the arena is like 50% Wings fans in Columbus..

This is too funny. Under Anderson's leadership I think DL has generated more bad publicity than good. A far cry from the days of "we love to fly and it shows".
