Checking in on linked PNR at different times
As a medallion with two free checked bags, if a companion traveling on the same PNR with me shows up later to the airport than I do, will he still get his checked luggage free or be charged for them?
Thanks |
Check in time does not change baggage allowance, so long as the deadline is met.

Up to 8 passengers traveling with the same confirmation number as a medallion passenger automatically enjoy the same baggage allowance as the medallion customer.
Passengers traveling with a different confirmation number, but with identical itineraries as a medallion companion enjoy the same baggage allowance as the medallion customer; however, the medallion customer should be present at check-in for the bag fees to be manually waived. I'm not aware of any way to "link" a PNR so that bag fees for non-medallion companions are automatically waived. |
You can not really link PNRs so it it better be the same PNR. Everyone who thinks they have a linked PNR wait until you have an IROP find out half of your party of 8 is on different flights.

Thanks for the quick feedback!

"Linking" simply means that an agent entered a note in each PNR. It means nothing for any purpose other than alerting another agent who happens to bother to read the PNR notes if there is a manual rebook in IRROPS (which is less and less likely) and if it's manual, you are there to point out that you are traveling together.
