210 empty seats on a 747
Pushing back on DL132 and the GIDS indicated 210 empty seats. I asked the GA when scanning my bp and she smiled and said yep its correct! Any speculation on how that happens? Seems like more empty seats (gross number) on a single flight than ive ever seen!

It's the double edged sword to aggressive revenue management.

I once flew a 767 JFK-TLV that could not have had more than 50 people on board. The trick there is to fly on a Saturday. Best long haul coach experience I've ever had. I was sitting right behind BE and the FA kept serving me drinks with real glasses.

Definitely happens...though increasingly rare.
I've been on some flights back to London where there were as many people in economy as there were up front. :) |
I had this happen once. 747 flying to Tokyo 2 or 3 days after the tsunami while the reactors where still critical. Totally empty flight heading there. But boy was it jam packed flying back out a few days later!

I mentioned this in a recent thread but last week I flew PHL to LHR with no more than 30-40 people on board. Several open seats in bus. class. Everyone had their own row. Some folks may have had their own cabin! ;)
The agent in LHR stated it was a fairly new route and there's a lot of aggressive competition for flights between US and Europe right now. Trav |
One summer nonreving from HNL to ATL connecting in SFO, I had this happen to us. The inbound flight from ATL was delayed due to MX and all the paying passenger got rebooked. Three hours later, the plane arrived, going back to ATL and there were less than 50 people on board. The GA called it Nonrev Express :D

Sounds like a flight that might be getting downgraded to a 757 soon

Leaving Las Vegas on Christmas, we where actually invited over the PA to come please sit up front. No not a Delta Flight

Haven't seen an empty plane in quite some time.
In the good ol' days I remember a SFO-HNL that was so empty that it went MX. |

How did thread end up on the front page as
"My GA Told Me Not to Tell How Many Empty Seats Were on This Flight":confused: |

Which prompted the $585 USA-HND fire sale a couple of months later that many of us FTers took advantage of. :)
Can't remember how I found the fare, but it was a fun vacation and how I discovered I love Japan. Heading back over Thanksgiving flying the 747 on the way home. |
I flew a United flight on Tuesday from Panama City, Panama to Houston and there were less people than rows.
I also had the same circumstances a few times flying between Seattle and Anchorage. |
