DL 194 Diverted
 

Monday, Sept 7, the PHL-LHR (DL 194) seems to have diveretd to JFK. I cannot tell if it has continued on toe LHR and why it diverted. Anyone know what is happening with this flight?

The flight let PHL at 9:21 PM and according to Flightaware is scheduled to land at JFK at 9:45 PM. What could be up? Why just leave PHL and land at JFK?

I have no concrete info, but looking at the flight info it looks like the flight was initially delayed about 2.5 hours out of PHL. My guess it that this potentially would have caused the flight crew to go over their legal work time limits, so the flight diverted to JFK where they could re-crew it? Just a guess...

According to DL.com - The flight is scheduled to depart JFK at 12:30am, getting into LHR about 6-hours late.

The diversion was initially filed at 7:38pm EDT, well before the departure from PHL. But also well after the scheduled departure time. I'm a bit surprised it would be a crew time-out issue if the crew starts at PHL but that very well could be the case.

Finally.

Mainline aircraft flying between PHL and JFK.

The 3 hour delay and thus the filed diversion for crew makes a lot of sense. 2 1/2 hours at JFK could be partly to take on the fuel it did not take on at PHL and maybe be catered.

Funny you should mention that . . . .

The PIT/CDG flight, another of the very few TATL B752s that exist, has always op'd from CDG to PIT, then turned around about 2 hours later, and gone right back to CDG - - UNLESS - - it wasn't on a daily schedule. Then, of course, the BE/D1 equipped B752 would go to JFK or ATL, and a different one would come back the next day.

I noticed last week that the inbound CDG/PIT flight now comes in more than 2 hours earlier than it used to, at 1:47 PM, so, I checked the outbound, and it still leaves at 6:47! :confused:

So, a tad more research shows that, after it arrives here from CDG at 1:47, it leaves to do PIT/JFK at 4:00 PM and arrive at JFK at 5:38. THEN, they send a DIFFERENT B752 leaving JFK at 3:35 PM, and arriving here at PIT at 5:31!

So, there's now a BE/D1 equipped B752 doing a round trip daily from PIT/JFK/PIT! :)

Flying PIT/JFK on a BE/D1 B752 compared to all of the CRJ's I've flown on is like hitting the jackpot! :D

January 8..Delta 194 diverted to Boston Logan ..why? Plane was near Nova Scotia.then looped back to Boston? It was en route to Heathrow from PHL

It was mechanical.
