Companion Certificate in Comfort +

Does anyone know if you can buy-up to Comfort + when using the companion certificates from the Skymiles Amex card?

well this sort of answers your question. I just booked my companion cert/ticket jfk to lax and of course I was able to secure my seat in comfort + but so was my travel companion who has no status.

Companions of DMs get C+/EC seats for free if this is where the DM is seated.

Yes, you will be offered a buy-up to C+. I was not offered a buy-up to F.

I used a companion cert, upgraded myself to C+ and the selection of C+ was free for my wife.

The OP may be scarred by AA, where saver award tickets don't allow a buy-up to Main Cabin Extra.
