Moron Delta guy at SLC

Booked a red-eye SLC-ATL tonight. Settled down into the Sky Club because it was open until 1:00am, when my red-eye departed.

All was well until 11:00 when an incredible stench permeated the sky club. Some moron at delta told workers to come into the SC and fix tile. People were coughing because of the smell and the fumes.

Finally the SC agents announced they had no choice but to close the club fearing for the safety of the people in the club.

Needless to say, many people (including me) were ticked off! Not at the agents (they were just as nauseated at the smell as we all were).... Not at the workers.... They were just following orders. But at the pencil-pushing-management-PINHEAD that scheduled this work while the club was open.

I have a splitting headache because of this a-hole who couldn't seem to wait until the club closed--instead forcing everyone (probably 40 people) out early.

The agents were really ticked off and very apologetic. They said they tried calling this guy (somehow I ended up with his name--funny huh?) but he never answered or bothered to return the agent's call.

Maybe the 40 of us should schedule smelly work at this jerk's house at 11pm at night and see how he likes it?????

...or the SC agents could have told the workers they couldn't remodel the club during opening hours.

They should have started the project when the SC closed at 1am.

Aren't the agents pretty good at keeping unauthorized people out of the AC?

In any case, I feel your pain. Had a red eye out of SFO a few months ago, the United Club was supposed to close at 11:30. But they shut down the bar and took away all the food at 10:30, just as I got there. Got to sit in the dark and listen to them vacuum the back halls. Great.

Yeah, they didn't clean the Sky Club. It's look terrible!! They have to be clean. They had to wash the floors, sweeps, wipes all the windows, TV, and etc.

Some years ago, I was flying DL on New Year's Eve to SFO; I had about a 2 hour layover before catching the Airport Express bus up to Santa Rosa. The SFO club is usually open until the last redeye leaves, around midnight. Not that night; they had closed early to put new carpet in the club. Oh, well.

Around major holidays, many airline lounges close or keep abbreviated hours.

PMNW policy was that the main lounges at hubs (MSP and DTW in particular) never closed (except forr their overnight closing hours) but other lounges were generally closed for Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.

I'm sure the workers had an Amex Platinum and were ticketed on a same day departing flight on Delta.

Let's see...The breathtaking mountain views. Clean airport, easy to navigate. Great place to connect and chill for a while. You can get a decent bite to eat. Quite underwhelming for sure....

And "usually" the DL club is quite nice. Unfortunately the OP was there at the wrong time. I'm hoping some complaints were issued. As judging from the post, the agent seemed less than forthcoming.

40 SC members now that is a nice capacity figure for that club. When it gets
to 240 now that is when the smelly tile fixen needs to be done to reduce the
occupancy to a reasonable level.
A still better option would be to demolish the C-D club and build a real
sky deck club on the roof level of EACH concourse (C & D).
This one size fits all is constantly begging for space and the club as is just
ain't cutting it !

Now as for this moron in the SC if he was not in charge why did he not call
the person that was and effect some action to have the smelly tile workers
wait until closing.
Need a Donald Trump to kick a$$ and take action "You are Fired!"
DISGUSTING *!*

I agree, I'm not a fan of merging two clubs into one either. SLC could use another club. If SEA can support two clubs then surely SLC could. I would have much rather DL kept the two seperate clubs on E in ATL instead of building that cheap, industrial white box they replaced them with.
