Pay for Drinks in DTW DCs as Well
Stuck in the A18 SC. I saw the same discreet sign as they have in the PHL SC about state law requiring the SC to charge for drinks, so I guess MI is as backwards as PA. Who knew?

Seriously? I've never seen that sign in any of the DTW SCs. It must either be new or very well hidden.

I've never paid for drinks in a DTW SkyClub. My last visit to a DTW SkyClub was in December 2014 with a few visits prior to that - perhaps the laws in MI could have changed on 1 January or at some point in 2015, but I've never paid for a drink at a DTW SkyClub.

Now, I know there's a sign they put out on Sunday mornings that says you can't have booze until noon because of Michigan law. I've never seen or heard of any sort of "required payment", though. |
Non stop whining about getting something for free. WDBD :)

And this requires a 2nd thread of the day on this topic? You couldn't have just updated your other thread on the PHL SC?

I was in the DTW Skyclub yesterday near A68 and they had a self serve bar with no requirement to pay

I smell SCM (Sky Club Monetization) coming. First drink free then you must buy all premiums @ $15. $5 for a seat (this could become a bidding war on a good day), $10 for a shower, and $2 to use the bathroom. VA. Ave you are taking your eye off the ball!!! |
I believe there are a few states that have laws against providing free alcoholic beverages or open bars. The way they work around it is by saying that you get two complementary beverages but you have to pay for anything beyond that.
Of course nobody does. But by putting up the sign, they're appearing to comply with the laws. |
Yep, I was in the DTW lounge yesterday by A63. Everything was still self service. I even saw a couple of guys add vodka to their travel mugs.
