Delta Airlines Narrowbody Fleet Updates Master Thread

Hello FTers,

BostonPlanesAndTrains and I, with the support and blessing of the Delta forum mods, have been working on a project to update and consolidate the various fleet tracking mods. I know that this will make many of the 757 thread followers happy. Given the size of the narrowbody fleet, which would make for an incredibly long Wiki, we decided to create this master thread for overall discussion and include summary info + links in the Wiki for each fleet type. Some of the existing threads will then be merged/etc. by the mods.

So, for those of you that are interested in such things, your input and contributions to the discussion and Wikis are definitely appreciated and welcome!

p.s. expect some changes to the older threads in the near future as the mods do their magic!

If anyone has information or comments please feel free to add!

p.s. Domestic B767s are welcome here! (even though the title says otherwise!)

Thank You...

This discussion has now been “stickemified”; and thank you to both BostonPlanesAndTrains and N515CR for collaborating on this project, which should hopefully help to significantly improve the Delta Air Lines | SkyMiles forum.

Regards,

Canarsie

Wow this is going to be complicated. I wish you the best of luck.

A correction is needed on the time that the B717s take for the mods to be performed at VQQ. It obviously takes more than 5 days to repaint the exterior, refurbish the interior and other mods. For example, one of the most recent birds to be completed was N717JL, which flew from GYR>VQQ on March 15th and entered revenue service on Jun 22nd flying from MSP>JFK, thus taking about 3 1/2 months for the mods. Some others have completed their mods in about 2 1/2 months, so it seems to vary from aircraft to aircraft.

Agreed, but we need more info. Part of the problem is that it's been said that the actual mod work doesn't take that much time. However, it's likely that the planes are having other Mx/acceptance work done, and the timing of that is what varies. Attempting to nail down an avg # for these would really be a 'swag' at the moment. I've added a clarifying comment to the wiki for now, pending more info.

this has probably been reported elsewhere, but since there are only a dozen or so 737-700s (73G) in the fleet they don't get a lot of visibility among the FTers

I'm on N301DQ ... the infamous bin-to-floor hard bulkhead between F and Y is gone; there's a solid surface extending from the bins to a couple inches below the headrests in Row 3, so the legroom and underseat storage for Row 10 resembles that of the A319/A320 (or, more accurately, 10ABC on the 739s)

Thanks! Will add to the B737 wiki page! If you've been on any B73G (besides 301) tell us!

Here's a little update!

1) Work on the A32X fleet has halted due to problems with the overhead bins. No word on what the solution will be. Stay tuned for more info!

2) MDs are getting mood-lighting systems similar to the BSI. Happening during the C-Check. 969 was the first a/c to be modded. Report aircraft #'s if seen.

3) 10 B76W's are being converted to domestic config. Timeline TBA.

4) The 5 B752s bought from Shanghai are going through mods. 4-5 months per A/C.

Yuck more 767 narrow and cramped domestic configs?

I'm actually wondering whether DL will remove the BE/Delta One seats, as some of these birds may be put on the transcons. Not sure why they would spend the money to reconfigure the front cabin with the older recliner seats. Or is that not the plan?
Apologies for posting this in the "...Narrowbody Fleet Update...", but I'm following up replies #9 and #10!

Hi! Here are some notes on the mods from A.net

http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/6432882/

As this is also created by N515CR, feel free to cross post or reference, as long as you include the link to the page!

Someone in the a.net thread alludes to more issues than just overhead bins...mentions the galleys and lavs. It's definitely a different configuration than we normally see on the majors, wonder what's up.

rylan Jul 28, 2015 7:31 pm

Maybe they realized they couldn't squish as many seats in as they wanted along with the micro-lavs and nano-galley :P
