737 Mod Summary
73W: LED mood lighting, soft bulkhead between Y and F. Seat config is 12F/18W/94Y. 2Ku WiFi was added starting Jan. 2019. All 73Ws were retired by the end of September 2020.
738->73H Mod: New Y seats/AVOD, LED mood lighting, 6 rows of C+, soft bulkhead between Y and F, updated lavs, ISP in all seats. Seat config is 16F/36W/108Y.
73H+ Mod: LED mood lighting, 6 rows of C+, soft bulkhead between Y and F, updated lavs, ISP in all seats. This does not include new seats or larger AVOD screens. Seat config is 16F/36W/108Y.

I live in JAC which has also been a 737-700 destination at times due to the short runway. We are mostly getting A319s now. A220 would be welcomed in the future.

319s occasionally serviced EYW back in 2009 or so soon after DL began mainline service with the 73Gs, but I believe at least at that time they could not always depart with a full load from what was then our 4800' runway. I also remember hearing at the time that the 319s required longer ground time at EYW to allow the brakes to cool off, compared to the 73Gs. As the current DL 319s are operating ok from JAC (6300' runway @ 6500' elevation), hopefully they can also operate ok from a 5077' runway at sea level (EYW added 277' to its runway in 2018-19).

JAC used to routinely see 757s to DFW, ORD, ATL and others. I have to believe a 319 has the juice in its hairdryers to get off the ground with enough gas to get to ATL and a decent load of pax. With that said, I’m sure the A220 could do it and probably do it much cheaper.

I'm sure you are right. I will root for the 220 to come here at some point, as I see that the DL 319s have an average fleet age of 18.5 years. I don't think I've ever flown on a DL 319, flew an AA 319 DFW-EYW once and it was decent.

I’m honestly not sure I’ve ever flown a DL 319 either, I’ve flown the A320 plenty of times and I actually really like them since the most recent refurb. I think the 319 got the same treatment but I could be wrong.

When they tried the A319's they were taking deep restrictions, whenever weather entered the picture or the runway was contaminated, which was why they were promptly removed from the route. I don't think ATL is a A220 base yet, so that play a factor. I can see the E175 actually taking over the route.

The 175 does make sense in the near term assuming traffic to EYW is depressed. I actually consider the 175 an upgrade from the 73G for all involved anyway.

Yes, we know of your distaste for the 737 already, but I doubt DL feels thrilled if they were experiencing demand to EYW with a 50+ seat loss coming.

If demand is really that strong then throw a 757 on in. Or two 175s. Or if it’s really that crucial keep a 73G and let it run ATL-EYW all day every day. Somehow I doubt it’s that big of an issue at this point.

Wingspan, taxi and pavement loading issues for the 757. I believe the 73G's are coming up on D checks hence the need to retire them to save money. In the grand scheme of things not that big of a issue, they will have to take the loss.
