Is this SDC possible?

I'm pretty sure it is I just want to confirm. I've spent some time reading the rules regarding SDC on Delta.

I have a award flight: TPA-LAX-SFO-HNL booked in First (R) and want to do a SDC to TPA-ATL-HNL to take advantage of the better plane and less stops.

The TPA-ATL-HNL is also First (RS) class and based on Delta's SDC policy for first class tickets "If you have a premium cabin fare, -- including Delta One™, First and Business Class -- you may make a same-day confirmed change as long as a seat is available in the premium cabin"

This should be no problem right? I think the only hangup I had was what first (RS) was but I guess its irrelevant because its the same cabin, just a different fare type.

As long as a seat in F is available, you are not changing origin/destination/co-terminal, and you are not trying to change from a connection to a nonstop, the seat is yours.

Call exactly 24 hours before departure of your original flight and they will make the change for you. SDC costs $50 for general members and FOs. The fee is waived for GM/PM/DM.

Just noticed that seatguru considers the ATL-HNL upper class to be considered business elite but delta.com considers it business. Which one is right?

KDCAflyer Jun 19, 2015 11:40 am

Neither, actually. ATL-HNL has lie-flat seats (either a 747, or A330), but the service is the same as you would find on a 1400+ mile domestic first class flight. The fare is coded for domestic F.

Apparently you do get Westin bedding, which is a huge plus, but the food won't be Delta One.

I know the SDC rules prevent going from a connection to a non-stop.

I don't know if they will let you go from a double connection to a single connection.

You can always try but I wouldn't get my hopes up too far.

There is no mention of changes from a multi-stop to a one-stop not being allowed. The only rule governing the number of stops is that you can't change from a connection to a nonstop.

OP is allowed to make the change.

It should be allowed if there is a seat available and it is a valid routing (and if it is an option to book it as a new ticket, then it should be valid). I believe Delta charges more miles for the ATL-HNL routing due to the lie-flat seats, but with an SDC that is irrelevant... you just need space available in F.

Pathetic food for a 9 hour flight ATL-HNL-ATL. Domestic food and service, but yes, you do get the "Bedding".

At least they serve something in F... Y gets nothing and they run out of the EATs food quickly.

Actually I wonder if this route also got the improved domestic F meals that I've seen around on other flights.

Same catering as ATL-LAX from what I have experienced.

I've never had a TA try to collect the SDC fee from me on a paid F ticket. Your millage may vary with phone CSRs.
