Lounge acess at GRU.

I got denied access like a year ago because my connecting flight was not Skyteam. Last time I didn't even bother trying but found this in the skyteam app recently, "Skyteam Elite Plus members, regardless of their travel class, are allowed access to a SkyTeam lounge at a particular airport if traveling on or connecting to/from a same-day international flight operated by a SkyTeam member airline."

I'm coming in on a KLM flight next week connecting to TAM and would love to know if I can access any lounge in Terminal 2.

Is it all on one ticket? If not, you would look like an arriving rather than connecting passenger to SkyTeam and SkyTeam lounges overseas are generally not allowed to be used as arrivals lounges.

It's all on one ticket and the lounge I tried last time must be the one showing up as Smiles VIP lounge in the lounge finder. The Air France lounges will be closed by the time I get there and they are located in Terminal 1.

I flew GRU-ATL last sunday and got to visit the Smiles lounge. I had very low expectations, however it turned out to be okay. They have showers, snacks, unlimited brazilian beer and self serve bar including red label, smirnoff vodka and a couple of wines. If you want to charge your device you will need a converter, not too bad for a 4 hr layover.

Keep your KLM BP and show your medallion credentials, they should let you in. Call DL and ask just to be sure.

Call KLM (not the USA DL agents answering KLM calls) if you want to ask. OP is arriving on KLM, so DL lounge access rules--which exclude contract lounges for elites in coach--don't apply, even if OP could reach someone knowledgable.

Thanks! I'll give it a try and won't leave until they let me in.

Don't get yourself arrested. Don't become Locked Up Abroad over lounge access.

Unless you're departing on DL (which you're not) then I don't see how you get lounge access at the GOL lounge. Inbound on KLM doesn't give you access because GOL is not a SkyTeam member. MSPEconomist (as usual) has it right.

I was just in the GOL lounge at GRU last Friday. It worked for me for two hours. WiFi was the fastest I had in my week in Brazil (that's not saying much), the food was edible but sparse and the drinks were OK. I had been hoping to find that frozen caipirhina concoction someone reviewed from last year but that freezer seems to have been removed.

Thank you for responding. I try to avoid flying through GRU but it sure would've been nice to have access to a lounge when I have to.

GOL/KLM do have a code-share arrangement, but as KLM now flies into Terminal 3 it looks like the VIP Business Lounge is available.....

New VIP Lounge:
Passengers travelling on World Business Class or Elite (Platinum, Gold) members of the Flying Blue frequent flyer program will be hosted on the VIP Business Class lounge managed by GRU Airport, located at the restricted area, after the X-Ray security inspection system, at the new terminals mezzanine. Therefore, passengers pass through all of the departure procedure and wait for their flights with more comfort.

That might be good news. Where did you get this information? Gonna give KLM a call and see if it's only for FB Elite members or if it's also available for Skyteam Elite members. Thanks!

My wife is "Alitalia Freccia Alata" (Skyteam elite plus) and travelling in economy class with Delta from GRU to JFK. She is now in GRU and has just be denied to access to GOL lounge (contract lounge). Is it correct? If not, please advice soon as I can contact her at the airport.

I think (sorry, I googled KLM GRU lounge) it was from KLM's site.

I asked KLM and according to them I do have access to the new lounge in Terminal 3. It shows up on their website and I do believe it's operated by GRU airport not GOL.
