intending to stash the miniatures in my pocket or carry-on bag, I ask for a can of club soda, a cup of ice, and a pair of Woodfords

the FA hands me a can of club soda and a cup of ice, proceeds to open a Woodford, and pours it over a second cup of ice

"Waitwaitwaitwaitwait!" falls on deaf ears as she pours the second bottle of amber liquid into the cup

"Um, I really didn't want to drink both of them now, much less that diluted ..."

"Oh, I'm sorry, you weren't very specific ..."

really? I always thought it was customary for FAs to serve drinks in glasses in F/J, but they let Y passengers pour their own

oh well ... at least the couple hours of pseudo-sleep on that flight were better than the couple hours on SEA-JFK last night ... (1) 915pm is an awfully uncivilized departure time for a redeye because it translates to a 515am arrival, (2) I have decided I really don't like the 739 in F, and (3) the fact that the F lav was placarded inop meant most if not all of the 20 folks up front were in more of a rush than usual to deplane
Dang. Sounds like you are flying the wrong airline. Possible switch to AA?

But seriously, they are not supposed to just give out the mini's, they stopped that 20 years ago.

I'm not saying it does not happen, I'm saying they are not supposed to. It is for consumption on the airplane.

There was a lawsuit about 20 years ago where some dude with a DL barf bag full of mini's killed someone on the way home from the ATL airport.....

I think you all have confused your airline and your liquor store LOL!

But I admit it's fun to watch you try to justify this, will be even more fun when Delta cuts off the flow LOL!

But that could have happened even without the bag full of minis. Dude drinks too much on the plane, goes straight from plane to car, and starts driving while still intoxicated.

My point is that sometimes I want to enjoy a drink but cannot do so on the plane because I am a responsible adult who chooses to not drink when I know I will be operating a vehicle in the near future.

I suppose I could go to my local liquor store and buy my own minis to pack with me, but I'm sure folks on this board would still judge me anyway. And if an airline is going to offer me a free drink and be kind enough to provide me with one I can take with me, I don't necessarily feel bad about taking it.

I wonder how many of the people on here who have such pristine morals that they will decline a "free" drink provided by a friendly FA are also sitting here churning CCs and running MS.

Well, the "evil people" never got the chance--most of the folks in FC chose Woodford for their PDB. I don't know what constitutes fully stocked on an Airbus 319, but we depleted the stock before the plane left BOS.

Wouldn't DL have more of a problem if they had served him all those drinks on board in a way that forced him to binge drink on the plane? This seems like the sort of circumstances that the new "wine doggy bag" laws in some states are meant to address. It's better to allow a customer to take the alcohol with himself/herself than to feel forced to drink it before leaving and then drive.

That can't be right. I've seen a FA pull four minis out of a single cart before.

But it was on either a 757 or 737 to LAS. Maybe those are catered differently.

2 Woodfords per cart was the rule for NW flights right after the merger was announced. Since then they seem to be as plentiful as any other liquor onboard. But their popularity has surged mightily.

I had an issue a couple years ago with them running out of Bailey's on flights (I even started a thread) and was told by an FA they stock mini's per cart for Bailey's so it could be the same with Woodford. I had it happen three hours out on an international flight when I was on a PAID J ticket and I wasn't very happy about that. Now that Bailey's has returned to the SC, I haven't been drinking it much on board.

I don't like Woodford, but they should serve it in the Skyclub. They may not run out of it as fast on board if people can drink it before their flight

I've seen a magician pull a rabbit out of a hat. That doesn't mean it was stocked there.

LAX-MSY last night in C+. I asked for a double and got both in closed minis with my mixer on the side.
