PC Timetable???
I've been trying to update the DL timetable on my PC and it always tell me that an update is not available? Anyone else having the same problem? I know that my timetable is way out of date, and I've been able to update it in the past, but not lately? any thoughts?

Maybe DL doesn't want us to have this information either. The schedule is what DL says it at the instant you ask. Hence flights can never be late or cancelled anymore. Isn't that nice?
Plus, I'm sure that customers have been demanding that timetables not be posted. Indeed, most passengers don't look at timetables when booking flights but search directly on delta.dumb, which is so perfect..... |
The skyteam timetable stopped updating a while back, perhaps 6 months, and the contact link on their site was also broken last time I looked. DL has also broken the DL PC app. They are keeping the phone app working, but that requires an internet connection. Therefore, they can change things in real time and you only see the very current schedule.
It's a major PITA, I liked using the desktop program for planning itineraries, and when traveling, having it on my laptop let me search options to prepare for possible irops. I often used it in flight when I saw we were getting in late. I don't know whether it is that they don't want us to have the info, or that software developers really believe people are connected to the internet 24/7 anywhere in the world. |
The PDF is still updated and available.

randidliyo http://www.delta.com/flightinfo/view...esSetup.action Way less fun than conspiracy, I know. |

There is a new desktop product, at least for Windows. Uninstall the old and install the new. It looks a bit different but has the same destinations/routes/flights functionality.

Yeah, i tried it too and it's not useful at all, 0% usefulness.

Seems this feature has been 'enhanced' into uselessness.

"Passengers traveling in the premium cabin and Diamond Medallions will receive a courtesy notification 24 hours in advance with the then estimated time of departure for their flight. (All flight times are subject to change until departure.) Other passengers may purchase a courtesy notification for $29 each, per passenger." |

Let's all bookmark this post so we can refer back to it when this change actually happens.

The "enhanced" desktop timetable is an absolute flaming, stinky, smell piece of garbage. That tool is completely worthless now. Who flippin' cares about a stupid map?
I want to be able to quickly pull up all flights and see all relevant information in a simple display, like the old desktop timetable. Now, the display of flights is tiny, it doesn't display most connections, equipment types is buried and only viewable if I drill-down into specific flights, and the search function is very clunky. This is a worthless travel tool now. The old desktop timetable was excellent for doing quick searches. I could search for flights OFFLINE quickly, plug in different cities very quickly, easily see the equipment type (to avoid CRJs), build connections. Vital for planning trips, vital for proactive IRROPS planning, checking other flight options. Plus now all flights show in 24 hour/military time, fine, ok I can do the conversion in my head, but its just stupid. Now I get a stupid map...wooo. Bring back the old program. |
I agree with what others have said. In addition, most codeshares on DL partners don't show up, even if one ticks the "include codeshares" check box.
|
I still miss the old fashioned appropriate technology small pamphlet timetables that PMNW printed and distributed at airports. Among other things, it included distance (in miles) as well as equipment type in every one-line entry. Now when booking on line, it's hard to verify and compare the MQMs that will be earned for various routings.
Since something like this is now considered too expensive and too hard to keep up to date (which wasn't a problem with PMNW IME), EF was the best substitute, but of course that is gone too now. |

I used the contact link from the app to tell the developer to look at the old skyteam travel desk, and that they needed to scrap their app and build one from scratch that does just what the old app did. I told them their app has a pretty face but that is all it has. I expect my e-mail will be blackholed. Is there an appropriate person at DL that a number of us could write? Perhaps if they get ten e-mails they might give it 5 minutes of their attention.

DL used to provide these in a holder on the FC bulkhead. Originally, they showed connecting itineraries from A to C. Then they decided they could cut the size of the booklet by only showing single hops, so the user had to manually search combinations of A to B followed by B to C. Then they did away with them altogether. I believe that I still have a few of these, but they might be out-of-date. :D |
The PMNW ones had a different colored glossy travel photo on the cover every month, often to celebrate new NW destinations.

I used to keep one on my desk, and if I couldn't find a direct flight out of DTW it was easy to look one up out of MEM or MSP, then figure out which flight I would take first (and last)
