Transfer eCredit to another person?
I asked a consultant who works for me to purchase a round trip international flight in the C cabin that was around $8,000 originating in the US. I reimbursed the person who paid for the ticket directly with DL using his own CC.
We had to cancel that trip and because it was non refundable, was given an eCredit for the amount to be used within 12 months.
This consultant is no longer going to be working for me, and we have not yet had occasion to rebook that trip. I want to get the eCredit moved to my name as the relationship ends...is this possible? Other ideas?
Note that having him pay me back for the flights and then using the credit himself for personal use is not an option.

Nope - You are screwed....
This is why most employers (and govts) mandate refundable tix only. Jesus man, what $8k ticket is non-refundable?!
The credit will stay with the employee.

A number of years ago - - - PIT/Berlin $400~ to give you an idea how long ago . . . .
I bought a ticket for me and 1 for a friend - - Both on the same record - - using MY credit card. My (former) friend never paid me, so I canceled his ticket!
I called (NW) and explained that it was on my credit card - - NO DICE! The eCredit was still in his name for a year. NUTHIN' I could do!

My stepmom had a flight to HKG in non-refundable biz (not sure of exact fare class) booked with her employer at the time. Due to some upper-management changes before the trip departed, she and several other employees left the company (who also had the same trip booked). They all called it their buyout for putting up with the new management for a few months. The eCredit was theirs to keep because, like everything related to modern-day air travel, it was in their name.

Once you have the trip rescheduled (or need to book any other $8k ticket for yourself), perhaps he could book a joint reservation with you as the companion and apply the $8k ecredit to your ticket. After booking you should be able to split the PNR and then cancel his portion within 24 hours without fee so that he would not actually need to fly with you.

That's correct. I just found that out today when I tried to use wife's cxld ticket for a trip for both of us. No dice. She can fly on it but not me. Agent explained cxld ticket is different from other vouchers.

Don't cancel the ticket until the last minute. Hope the flight is cancelled or has a time change of more that 90 minutes in which case you can get the ticket refunded to the original credit card.

I might be able to have the consultant use the credit for several domestic flights. But is that possible? Would they subtract a $200 change fee each time?

It is possible, and there would not be a new change fee for each use. If there was a change fee at all, it would have already been assessed at the time of cancellation, and the ecredit should already have been reduced by that amount.

Careful with this. Some international fares have a couple requirements that make this not possible. First, some require that any credit be used for another international itinerary AND/OR that the new ticket be a higher fare/fare class than the original purchase.

Why wouldn't there be a change fee with each domestic reservation? Why would the change fee already be deducted....if they don't know if you're going to use the ticket?

I had 4 flights booked before when a contract came to an abrupt end.
I was thankful since I used those credits to fly my and a GF to Costa Rica!
All I'll say is, thanks, I'm sure he is a happy camper

This is exactly why most international fares have the stipulation that the credit can only be used for an equal or higher fare. So that it cannot be broken in to multiple tickets.
