Almost missed flight because GA announced wrong boarding time
I took a 5:22p scheduled departure yesterday. Around 5:10 the GA announced she would board in 10 minutes. I figured I had enough time for the bathroom.
At 5:16 as I washed my hands, I heard over the loudspeaker that my flight was boarding. I rushed back to the gate to board early so I could stow my bag.
It turns out everyone was already onboard and the loudspeaker announcement was a final call. I took my seat, the jetbridge pulled away, and the FA closed the cabin door at 5:18.
If I had missed this flight would I have been compensated? I know I have to be at the gate at T-15, and I was -- but then the GA announced 10 more minutes. Are these announcements not to be trusted?

I would be fairly certain that the population density of the lice colony is vastly more reliable than the GA announcements.
But why not put the boarding status on the GID? Get rid of all the uselss junk and show what matters. Flight and boarding status at all times (on the top 1/3 or so), with the rest of the screen toggling between Upgrade and Standby lists.

The boarding began sometime after 5:10, and by 5:18 the boarding was fully completed and the jetbridge pulled away and the cabin door closed? This must have been an RJ; I have never seen the entire boarding process happen this quickly.

How is the GA to know that you are there if you show up and then disappear for whatever reason? Did you let the GA know that you were there?
In the end, OP "almost" missed the flight. That is the same a saying. "I made the flight".

Was the door to the jetway open or closed when the OP heard the GA's announcement?

What airport was this at? What type of aircraft ? We need more details.
I find it extremely hard to believe that from start to finish, preboards thru Zone 3, boarding was completed in 6 minutes, even if it was an RJ.

You still have to be at the gate for a domestic flight by T-15. Delayed by 10 minutes or not, doesn't change the requirement. If indeed this aircraft went from "boarding in 10" to fully boarded and ready to push in 6 minutes, and OP showed up at 7 minutes, he would likely have been rebooked onto the next available flight, but that's about it.
