I'm kicking the horse, but...............Really DL!

So DL flight 5933, LGA-ORD Friday 3/6.
11, count that 11 FC Seats EMPTY.
NOPE, didn't clear 5 days out.
But DL, offered me $199 to buy the UG when I just checked in!

DL, really, 11 EMPTY seats, and you can't clear your DIA's.

I know, dead horse and all that, but this is getting to the point of stupid and ridiculous.

Working on moving some business to AA for trans. Need to earn and keep status there. However, this is still ridiculous!

How many F seats do you think DL can sell on a 7:15AM departure LGA-ORD? Why do you think your estimate is more reliable than DL's?

Because I fly that route EVERY other week. I've never not been upgraded. Used to clear at the 5 day window. Sometimes 3 days. Now always at gate.

Again, ridiculous .
Love the DL lap dogs though.
Oil is cheap, revenue is up. 2 years from now, when oil is high, travel is down, they'll be begging us to fly them, with guaranteed UG's, etc etc etc.

Err, common sense?

Only thing I can figure is that since it's the shuttle and so open, they may be preparing to cancel, I mean have WX/MX hit that flight and combine it with the next frequency?

It has been a year....I think it is about time to revive the thread and do a head count.....

I'm a GM who has a 75% UG rate on this route, including many Wed/Thurs pm and Sun pm flights. I get that it's frustrating, but i'm sure you'll be up front tomorrow morning.

Would love to know who on that biz heavy route is actually paying $199 for a UG?

Again, I'm slowly moving my business to AA, earning status through status match. I've already spent 5K on AA that would have gone to DL.

So really, blah blah blah

The complaint appears to be not that DL won't give OP a freebie, but that it won't do it sooner rather than later. Who cares? If DL is correct and sells 11 seats for $199+ or however walk-ups (or international connections booked in J), OP has no complaint. If he is handed an F BP as he boards, he also has no complaint.

Neither AA nor UA do this differently. So, not sure what OP wants out of his ship jump.

I'm not sure what the complaint is? If you were not getting your UGs because of FCM, then I would understand (possibly) what your complaint is. But you're getting your UGs, just not in advance.

In 2011 as a DM I flew ATL-PHL every week for the year on full Y fares. I rarely, maybe twice, cleared the UG before the gate. But I still cleared. I sat in F. This isn't a new problem, or really a problem at all, IMHO.

If this makes me a "lap dog" so be it.
