Finally there's daily 717 service at MKE this Spring!! YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

I've been hoping this for a long time. MSN already got daily 717's but I was hoping MKE would too. Now as far as I remember there were at least ten daily DC-9 flights a day from MKE back in 2010. And Delta only had 40 of those DC-9's in their fleet back at that time. But as for those who fly out of MKE this is what I found in the Delta schedule this March, so be excited 717 fans! I sure am!

MKE-ATL: 1x (2x on Saturdays)
MKE-MSP: 1x Daily (except for Saturdays)
MKE-DTW: 1x Daily (could easily have all flights on that route on 717's IMHO)

Looking into the future during the Summer on Delta 717 service and picking a random date 07/17/2015 (get it a 717 on 7/17/2015) I don't see any 717's from MKE at the moment but I highly bet they'll be going from MKE-DTW sure. Almost all flights there can be on 717's. MKE-ATL and MKE-MSP however will be questionable. MKE-MSP has its six flights between A320's and B753's so a 717 might not happen on that route. MKE-ATL has one MD90, three MD88's plus three B752's. One of the three MD88 flights could turn into a 717.

IIRC, Delta has 717 bases in ATL and DTW but not MSP. If 717s appear in MKE they will be worked into rotation from ATL or DTW but may not simply be doing out-and-back flights.

No MSP is starting to get a 717 base. Looking at the schedule the 717's from MSP are also going to MCI, MSN, CLT, DTW, BNA, IAH, JFK, EWR, OMA, GRR, MEM, CVG, MDW/ORD, BUF, GRB, JAX, IND, PIT, and BDL.

Programs: Now just a lowly DL PM/1MM. This industry needs some competition. It's just not enjoyable anymore.

I'm delighted that you're happy, but what is it about the 717 that excites you so much?

I'm booked on a 717 this coming Sunday, 2/15 MSP-BOS.

I'm also curious about what is so exciting about the 717.

I'm already ticketed on a 717 in April for MSP-DTW. I booked the ticket in mid-January and it was already scheduled as a 717 at that time.

Poster was referring specifically to a pilot base. Having a decent number of flights does not make it a pilot base and can impact flying patterns to get the pilots in and out of the actual bases.

It's the latest (and last) iteration of the DC-9.

And many of us are very happy about that!

At present, it's in a tie with the 900ER for the most disliked aircraft in the fleet.

There are plenty of people on FT with a little airplane geek going on, but a 717 can be thought of as a little newer MD-90 missing a row of F and nine rows of Y. Not special. That 88 mainline-operated 717s effectively replace seat capacity of 200 Delta Connection CRJ-200s? That is a victory.

Au contraire, the CRJ200 is second only to a wedgie for discomfort.

I totally agree - I even prefer the ERJ-145s that CO/UA operate. A 717 is a massive improvement.

We have been getting them occasionally in ROC. Always from DTW.
