Difference in boarding passes?
 

Sorry if this has been discussed before...

I checked-in for today's flight online yesterday and printed out a boarding pass which contained all the goodies -- Sky Priority & TSA PreCheck (I have GE). When I arrived at the airport and checked my bag, the Sky Priority agent reprinted my boarding pass and on the new one I lost the TSA PreCheck.

I realize PreCheck isn't guaranteed but is this a common occurrence (to lose it on a reprint)?

Not a huge deal as I still had access the SP lane -- took ~10 minutes to get through rather than ~3 minutes in PreCheck -- but it was irritating hearing people in the PreCheck lane (which was in close proximity) confused on why they need to keep their shoes on. ;-)

You still could have used the BP that you printed out originally.

It's a known issue with some of Delta's BP printers (for example, at ATL Terminal F). If you were to go up to PreCheck and scan the boarding pass, it would be accepted, though the PreCheck guards probably wouldn't let you enter the queue to find out.

Also, if you had reprinted the BP at a kiosk the new copy probably would have had PreCheck on it. The main problem seems to be BPs printed at the check in desks.

I've lost mine on re-print a few times, however you should be able to use the Delta app/digital boarding pass as backup.

It sometimes works the other way. If you don't get PreCheck on a boarding pass for flights returning to the USA, trying to reprint at the kiosk after clearing customs can result in PreCheck being there.

My personal rule is that whenever my boarding pass doesn't show PreCheck, I just try to reprint it several times using different methods: OLCI, OLCI redo from a different computer, iphone, kiosk, airport agent, etc.

In this case, all OP needed to do was to present the original BP at the checkpoint and he would have had pre-check.

As others note, it's baked into the bar code. The logo is simply there to give you advance notice and the line monitors some idea of who belongs in the line. If you don't have the logo, you may never get to the scanner.

Yeah, ideally the OP would have demanded the original boarding pass back, but I suspect he/she didn't look at the new boarding pass carefully before leaving the counter.
