Lost Interline Bag
All --
Have searched the forum but can't seem to find a great answer here. Wife and I flew LIH-HNL-ATL on Saturday night. LIH-HNL was on Hawaiian (booked via UA miles) and then HNL-ATL was on DL (booked via DL miles). I was a bit surprised in LIH when HA tagged the bags all the way through to ATL (thought they had done away with this a couple of years ago), but pleased that I didnt have to re-check in HNL. We get to ATL...one made it, one did not. Went to baggage service in ATL and was given a file ref #. So now a few days later, still no sign of the bags. Got a call from DL in HNL today -- they're looking but not sure if they ever received from HA or not. So here's my question -- was an interline on two separate tix...who is ultimately responsible if the bag never turns up? At this point, I'm not overly optimistic...but not sure what to expect here. Stick w. DL. If they find the bag, they will get it to you. If they don't, they will pay any compensation due. DL can then slug it out with HA.
Given that LIH is smallish and there shoudn't be too many bags lying around, it is worth a call to HA in LIH and ask them to look for your bag in case the tag got ripped off and it's sitting there. |
DL is responsible. The last carrier to handle it is always responsible. If they can somehow prove that HA never gave it to them, I think that would be a fight between HA & DL, but, DL is responsible to you!
The deal you speak of that changed a couple of years ago was either rescinded, or put on hold indefinitely. I flew NW connecting to KL connecting to AZ to MXP once. No bags at MXP. AZ was responsible (which was certainly a treat). |

http://help.hawaiianairlines.com/hel...statement.aspx Delta's policy hasn't yet been put in place though. |
