I say the higher the better. Who wants more competition for upgrades? In case it's not obvious to some, this offer is not aimed at mileage running FT'er type cheapskates. It's aimed at busy execs with little time and money to burn.

My offer:
2500 for $625
5000 for $825
7500 for $1,025
10000 for $1,225
I'm a general member with YTD MQMs @ 16,419 (15K earned through AmEx spend).
I'm not the typical target audience for these things but wanted to share my situation with the forum.

I was expecting that. MQDs have always been about driving more revenue, so if you're short on MQDs but high on MQMs, why not offer the purchase of MQDs? More revenue to corporate. (And, along with the general existance of this offer, yet more evidence that MQDs have nothing to do with "thinning the herd"... this is about the exact opposite... "thickening the herd".)
My offer was the high end (10k = $2095). Due to the cancellation of two EU trips and some last minute TCONs, it looks like I'll be pretty close to DM on MQD but quite far on MQM.

If someone needs MQDs, the $1225 offer for 10,000 MQMs could be worse (less useful) than the $2095 offer, depending on whether one wants status or rollover. It would be interesting if DL would give people the choices of prices.

I would have a skyclub membership even if I was only PM, so that is a decent savings right there. And even without the SC membership, the difference between an economy and business class ticket is a lot more than $1,000.

What are you talking about. Status does not guarantee you an upgrade to first/business class, nor does it get you into the SkyClub.

So you're paying $1000+ to maintain meaningless "status", while cheapo kettle just spend $100 snatching that FC seat away from your upgrade.
Yeah, sounds like a plan...

Status has different value to different folks. For example, if you're PM but $1000 gets you to DM, and you were going to buy SkyClub membership @ $450 anyway, then the $1000 is really only $550. On top of that, you get ~25000 more RDM (say, $250) and potentially 4 GUCs (worth several thousand), so yeah, it does sound like a plan.
