+ GM gets free Economy Comfort for domestic flights. That's a rather big deal (for some).

So the OP isn't really interested in how (you feel, CrazyCelt) Delta sucks, but rather CONSTRUCTIVE ideas and thoughts on how to achieve Platinum Medallion and obtain the extra MQMs required in the least painful and time consuming way.

I understand, when someone says "should I leave Delta?" "is Platinum Medallion worth it?" -- but, in this case CrazyCelt, I do not believe the OP was looking for advice on how they should "book away" from Delta. Perhaps, I'm crazy, I just don't see the point of the "Delta-hating" being interjected into a thread that doesn't really question the OPs desire to travel on Delta. That is all.
Dear Baccarat_King/_Prince/_Queen/_Princess/_Manservant/Lady-in-waiting/_whatever. hahaha

Isn't (pretty much) the point of FT to discuss 'who sucks, and who doesn't?' And to ask/receive/give advice on how best to avoid the worst 'suck' offenders?

I don't know for sure, but, yes, perhaps you are crazy. After all, you asked the question, not me.

Didn't Op aske all of us (not just you, or me) for an opinion...?

Surely, the point of OP's question was, "Is it worth paying money for the miles (i.e. not actual tickets...) in order to achieve Platinum Status?"

I thought I answered decisively, and with the perspective of someone who has 'enjoyed' the status (and more) that he's interested in paying his money for. So I said, "Dont' bother. Status isn't worth much on DL; not even Diamond status"

Because I believe that one-word answers - e.g. 'No!" - are not very helpful, I went on to explain.

Incidentally, I didn't intend to imply that at all costs, one should avoid or - to use YOUR term (not mine) - *hate* Delta. I'm sorry if I gave that impression.

Rather, I wanted to make clear that Op shouldn't buy Delta miles with the idea that 'status' is substantively meaningful. IMOP, it's not anymore. The 'game has changed,' which I think is fine, provided you understand 'the rules of the game' before you play it.

So I issued a "Player beware' advisory." Isn't this what FT is largely about...? But maybe I'm the crazy one.

Boilded down, my advice to OP was to get the best fare/itinerary that works for a particular itinerary.

Actually, PM was 75K not, 100K

I was creating the wiki post as you posted this.

DL offering:

2,500 MQM for $1025
5,000 MQM for $1325
7,500 MQM for $1775
10,000 MQM for $2095

Thankfully, I qualified awhile ago.

Both of our family accounts are in $725-1325 range, though we don't need these MQMs. If we would need them, it's much cheaper to do a mileage run.

Flyertail's 60 segments in the first half of 2015 will give at least 30,000 MQMs, which would mean automatic FO for 2016 assuming that the MQD waiver is obtained and that will mean an additional 15,000 MQMs, thus getting him almost to GM for 2016 even with no other DL flights during the year. Doing 60 segments in the second half of the year for at least an additional 30,000 MQMs gets him to PM and free award ticket changes, which could be very valuable when all those RDMs are used.

Please don't give up and spend 80,000 RDMs for a domestic award ticket. They're still much more valuable than that.

Isn't the big news here that these purchases count for MQDs? So if someone is short up to about $2000, they can buy MQDs in chunks at a price of one dollar per MQD regardless of the number purchased up to the maximum. Then some MQMs are tossed in by DL and will rollover too as a bonus.

No intent to purchase, but just for the data collection:

2500: $925
5000: $1125
7500: $1325
10000: $1725

I'm comfortably in the middle of the GM tier, so none of these will push me up a tier. Therefore, I'm a little surprised the prices aren't the lowest end of the range for me.

And, for the record, last year, when it would have pushed me up to PM, these were the prices I was offered:

2,500 for $595
5,000 for $895
7,500 for $1,195
10,000 for $1,495

Note that the deadline for purchase is 11:59 pm Central Standard Time, not ATL (or SLC) time as DL usually uses.

My offer:

2,500 MQM for $1025
5,000 MQM for $1325
7,500 MQM for $1775
10,000 MQM for $2095

Definitely cheaper to pre-pay taxes on my DL Reserve (and pay the 2% fee), and to get 15K MQMs.

I requalified for DM a while ago. My pricing offer is as follows:

2500 MQMs for $1025
5000 MQMs for $1325
7500 MQMs for $1775
10,000 MQMs for $2095

Of course I'm not buying.

As a comparison, there are TPAC fares that for about $1000 would get you at least 20,000 MQMs plus 50,000 RDMs. For a $2000 investment, that would be four times as many MQMs plus 100,000 RDMs as an added bonus, all for spending two weekends sitting in EC seats with movies and F&B provided.

My offer as a Plat who is about 6k MQM away from Diamond:

2,500 MQM for $1025
5,000 MQM for $1325
7,500 MQM for $1775
10,000 MQM for $2095

Don't need to purchase as I do have 2 trips booked that will get me to Diamond--by about 300 miles.

I'm a PM(thru 2015) and would still be short of DM even if max MQM were purchased.

My offer:

2,500 MQM for $1025
5,000 MQM for $1325
7,500 MQM for $1775
10,000 MQM for $2095

IMO, I think they are pricing these with a convenience factor built in because for most a MR would be cheaper and if plan ahead of time, you could do the MR in FC and it would still be cheaper.

Not buying.
