Today was the Last 747 flight for DL285 NRT-MSP

FA's were a bit emotional. Lots of selfies and group photos on the staircase. Another relic of a bygone era to be replaced by newer and better.

a new 747?

on a serious note outside of the UD that I agree is great, I have never been sitting in Y and said to myself "wow I really wish there were more people on this plane". Takes longer to get your luggage, longer to get on and off, maybe someone can fill me in why fly in sitting in the back of a 74 is better then say the back of a 77?

The back of a 747 is nothing special, upper deck J is!

The FA's love em because they're so roomy. I'm sure they will all be very sad to see them go away.

I love the A380.

I've never been on a 747.

So sad. If I had known, I would have worn all black today, in honor of the 747 on that route, although back in the day I preferred the smaller upper deck of the 747-200 over the 747-400's megatop.

+1. I loved them back in the early 90s except the few times I got upgraded from J to F

+1 ^ My family and I have enjoyed many a trip between MSP-NRT and NRT-MSP in the 90's and then through 2005 or so upstairs, the J Class upper deck seemed like 1st class, such an exclusive experience.

^ Fond memories of upper deck J.

I've been in upper deck J on the 380 (on KE, where J is the entire UD), and it just isn't the same private-cabin feeling you get on the 747.

It looks like the 744 should be flying NRT-MSP on 10/23 and 10/24, and back on MSP-NRT on 10/23 and 10/24 as well. I'm thinking of taking a long, late lunch on Friday to run down and watch the last (maybe) flight leave from MSP.

IDEA: Is the best vantage point still the cellphone lot?

Usually, unless it is taking off from 14/22. Today it took off on 12/30. I usually know, because I can see it from my desk at work when it does.

I've never flown on a NW/DL 747. Just AF and KL.
