Domestic Wide-Body Opportunities: The Definitive Thread

This wiki is intended to contain a list of opportunities to fly internationally configured wide-body aircraft within the United States, aside from the usual JFK-LAX/SFO 767s and newer domestic DeltaOne routes. This is a collaborative wiki, not an OP-maintained thread; please contribute by editing the wiki directly as you become aware of regularly scheduled or repositioning flights. Schedules change far more frequently than community members have time to update this wiki; therefore please verify the equipment before purchasing a flight.

This Delta Cargo schedule lists wide body routes by region.

Looks like the A350 is running between LAX and ATL, Sunday only Red-Eye to ATL, Monday evening only return to LAX. Through Sept. 6th

You are correct, the flight number is DL587, looking to closely at flightaware.com I think.

I see it from 12/22 to 1/2 in both directions. Not sure if it reappears later. Dont know if there is a non-tedious way to check since the PDF timetable currently posted only runs through 12/15...

For non-767 equipment you can use an aircraft code to search a month at a time in ITA Matrix -- see the thread wiki under "one way to search for these on ITA"

FWIW, Delta this year is choosing to park/store a couple A333s, instead of scheduling so many domestic turns. Its a bummer for us flyer/avgeeks.

Werent these supposed to be gone by now? When are we finally going to be free of the lame F seats on them?

Huge fan of domestic widebodies etc. etc., but the time for these two frames to move on is long past. One of the ERs could certainly fill in if DL wants to keep higher capacity on a few domestic routes.

Its too bad there arent any routes where they feel they could use the capacity. I know the A333 uses substantially more fuel than the 767, so it doesnt make sense to fly them half full, but the onboard experience is also heads and tails better...

That explains it, because they were on the schedule for a while. Thanks.

I think we will have to agree to disagree here. Not everyone rides up front on every trip. The 767 is Delta's best long(ish) haul coach experience in the sky. I will miss the 2-3-2

Exactly. The 767 is my favorite choice for coach due to the 2-3-2 seating.

It's only the 2 767 frames with domestic F we (front riders) are talking about, not the entire 767 fleet.

1/11/19 - Airbus 350 - #DL8801 - ATL (7:55pm) - LAS (9:15pm)

I believe this A350 continues on to ICN from Vegas that night.

I was wondering if DL was going to offer the kinds of deals on the positioning flights to get the metal to ICN for the flights to the CES again this year. I paid about $2100 for D1 on the 350 LAS-ICN rt last year. Not seeing discounted fares this year although I see the non-stops LAS-ICN on 1/7 sold out in D1.

I've been flying the 763 to Portland a lot lately. I definitely agree, but I will also say I've soured on it a little bit - I've gotten spoiled by the 2ku WiFi on the domestic fleet and always seem to have issues with the lower bandwidth Ku on the 767s - it's either out or so slow that it reminds me of the ATG days. It's amazing how quickly we get spoiled and normalize new things (2Ku versus the atrocious ATG setup). Definitely a step up in coach, but ironically I would actually say if I'm flying F I'd rather fly a 739 or A321 with decent internet unless I'm planning to to try to sleep.
