This wiki is intended to contain a list of opportunities to fly internationally configured wide-body aircraft within the United States, aside from the usual JFK-LAX/SFO 767s and newer domestic DeltaOne routes. This is a collaborative wiki, not an OP-maintained thread; please contribute by editing the wiki directly as you become aware of regularly scheduled or repositioning flights. Schedules change far more frequently than community members have time to update this wiki; therefore please verify the equipment before purchasing a flight.

These international narrowbodies would normally also fly the domestic DeltaOne routes JFK-LAX/SFO, BOS-LAX, and DCA-LAX.

During COVID-19, when many international routes are suspended, they can be found on some domestic routes (including Hawai'i):

Regular service through March 2021:
JFK-LAS
JFK-PHX
JFK-SAN
JFK-SEA
JFK-SFO
JFK-SLC
LAX-KOA
SEA-KOA
SEA-OGG

Positioning / one-offs:
SLC-SEA
SLC-LAS
SLC-BOS 4x a week
BOS-LAX
JFK-MEX
JFK-SJU
LAX-HNL

one way to search for these on ITA

This Delta Cargo schedule lists wide body routes by region.

Looks like the A350 is running between LAX and ATL, Sunday only Red-Eye to ATL, Monday evening only return to LAX. Through Sept. 6th

The last 2 years there have been very few of them. SFO used to always get a couple of A330s in the winter but that doesn't happen anymore. I think the PHX widebodies also have stopped. LAX might still get something

I just noticed a 777-200 got loaded between ATL-JFK starting Christmas week (departing DL2941 return DL1968) through most of Jan-March. That seems unusual, although a 764 is often on that route. According to the seatmap on Delta it has delta one suites as first class and Premium Select as Comfort+, like the ATL-LAX route that has been operating for a while now.

I've been on a 777 ATL-JFK which was a positioning flight. That was a couple of years ago and in the winter as well.

Noticed the same thing, it is closely timed with the JFK-BOM route so maybe this is a positioning flight?

I was about to suggest BOM as the reason.

Not all that unusual. I flew a scheduled JFK-ATL 777-200 in 2017 and as far back as 2009. It's usually a 4 PM or so departure from JFK. I go to New York for the same event the second weekend in February and I often try and fly back JFK-ATL-RDU because of the widebody. Last year it was a 764 instead.

I am not complaining! I just hope I can take advantage while it is on that route as I haven't flown D1 yet.

It definitely is. That's why I was happy to fly ATL-JFK-BOM early next year, knowing that if the first flight was delayed, the second one probably would be delayed too

It's just the D1 hard product, not the entire D1 experience.

Yep. In early 2017 I SDC’ed an SEA-ATL flight to SEA-JFK-ATL just so I could get the 777 on JFK-ATL. (the extra MQMs were nice too).

Sure, but it beats recliners and at least comes with a domestic first meal service .

This is probably due to the B777-200LR service that begins Dec 22 2019 JFK-BOM-JFK. Current DL schedules do not have any trip 7's into or out of JFK - so a domestic trip 7 needs to happen, probably ATL-JFK to then continue onto the India and back legs. This becomes the most efficient way for Delta to work the schedules as opposed to adding 2 international legs....LIKE: ATL to AMS to JFK.......JFK-BOM-JFK......then JFK to AMS to ATL. Obviously, this is not done in one 24 hour period, and this would take up another 77L aircraft which I don't think Delta has currently not being used.

So, does anybody know if ATL-FLL 767-300 service is a regular thing at this point? Or was the one that lost pressure an operational fluke?

Interesting, I haven't seen that before. A quick look on flight matrix for 767's on that route shows a flight this coming Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and the following Monday (22, 24, 26, and 30th of September) but none after that for the rest of the year.

I flew on a 763 on Monday from ATL-MCO (it came in from FLL) and was always scheduled as a 763 when I booked it 2 weeks before. It was using the 76T, which formally did all of the SEA-Asia routes, so I guess DL is just using them on domestic routes right now. I looked at FlightAware the next day and the same ship was doing some really weird routes like SLC-DEN and DEN-LAX.

would those latter routes be "informally"?
