On-line and App Check-In Problems
I tried to check-in for tomorrow's flight this morning. The app returned an error saying "Unable to verify your information at this time. Please try again later."
I then tried to check-in online and the website said "Unable to find your reservation. Please call your regional assistance office for help." I call in, and after 10 minutes on-hold and being asked repeatedly "did you make any changes to this reservation" to which I replied "no", they said "we found the glitch and fixed it. You are able to check-in". I went to the app and was able to go through the check-in process, but my boarding pass is unable to be viewed. Also, I do not appear on the upgrade list. The website says "We are unable to complete your check-in request. You will need to check in at the airport with an agent." What's going on? Possible other obstacles/considerations...It's a multi-city trip during which I made PM...my wife is flying on an award ticket (different PNR, different reservation, different confirmation number) booked under my SkyMiles account to a different destination. |
No idea what the problem is, but if you're close enough to the airport to swing by today it might be worth the time to get this sorted out and have your BP issued. I recently went by the airport the afternoon before departing on a very early morning flight to start an international trip so that I could scan my passport and be issued my "real" boarding passes. It made the next morning much less stressful because I've had trouble with international checkin in the past. Good luck!

I called again and the agent confirmed I was checked in. She said she'd email me confirmation of same, but it never appeared in my inbox. She said her screen said I was on the upgrade list, but she said her screen didn't show where I was on the list. She said that was odd (no kidding) and she kept working on it for a few more minutes. In the end, she guaranteed I was checked in, but she couldn't say where I was on the upgrade list. The app and website both say checked in, but that the boarding pass is unavailable. On both the app and website, I can view the upgrade list, but I do not appear on it. Not bad for my first flight after making PM for the first time. |
Not being able to generate a BP online can be a sign of trouble with the ticket. Be sure to arrive at the airport early - just in case.

I checked-in at the desk in the garage at DTW. It took the agent and the Red Coat about 5 minutes to generate a boarding pass. I then asked if I was on the upgrade list. The agent quickly said "Yep!" and I said "Can you tell me where?" It took 15 minutes for the agent and Red Coat, including a call to corporate, to determine that I was #9 on the list. I made my way to the gate where I was #5 on the list. I boarded w/ SP and my boarding pass made the bad beep, instead of the good beep. I handed the BP to the GA and briefly explained what happened. She pulled my name up on the computer and said "...and they still didn't do it right" in regards to the check-in agents. She kept trying to enter my boarding pass and the computer kept saying "Segment already completed" or something. She printed a new boarding pass and it scanned just fine. Who knows. |
Woke up this morning and noticed the "It's Time To Check-In" email, so I tried, using the iPhone app. Got the "Sorry We are unable to process your request" message. Tried to do it again a few hours later and now it shows me checked in, but won't let me get a boarding pass. I can see the upgrade list but not my name on it. After a couple of calls to Delta, they said I have to go to the ticket counter as there is something wrong with my ticket. They couldn't tell me what exactly. The flight (2218) is sold out, except for 1 F seat. Any ideas? If not, I'll just go to the airport early and will post what transpires.

- your ticket includes a certificate upgrade and has not been properly reissued - your ticket was issued by an airline other than Delta or contains a codeshare flight, and needs manual intervention - you have been selected for additional security screening (e.g. SSSS on the boarding pass), which requires you to check in in person. |

Well, I got my boarding pass from the ticket agent at HNL in less than a minute, no explanation why I couldn't do it online or on the app. No SSSS, DL ticket, and no certificate.
As an interesting coincidence perhaps, I got an email yesterday asking to rate my visit at the SEA Sky Club Friday, but I didn't visit it. I went to the Centurion Lounge in SEA and then the HNL Sky Club upon arrival. |

It could also be SSSS, although the last time this happened to me, OLCI from my foreign destination gave me a message that by law, they were unable to give me a boarding pass, which initially made me wonder why delta.dumb had allowed me to go through the entire OLCI routine.
The mobile app gave me a much more generic message, though, that didn't mention government interference. |
