Old Delta timetables
Is there a collection of old Delta timetables, searchable online? I asked The Great Google Mind, but didn't get anywhere.
In early December 1985 I flew MIA-ATL (DC10) and ATL-SAN-ONT (727), and wanted to look up those flights and departure times. I remember the MIA-ATL flight leaving MIA pretty early, around 6 or 6:30 in the morning. Thanks. |
here are a few online sites ... most only have a handful of issues; I'm not aware of any that has an exhaustive collection though
timetableimages.com airchive.com departedflights.com (also has a number of OAGs, and other interesting stuff) |
eBay has them come thru occasionally. Set yourself an alert.
|
Have you tried looking for the OAG books?

I don't remember Delta ever having any DC-10's. They did have a few MD-11's in 1996 (maybe 3). I flew a Delta MD-11 Atlanta to Frankfurt Germany and a Delta 727 onward to Athens Greece. These planes brought the Olympic torch back to Atlanta.
|
For a long time DL had some ATL-Florida flights on L-1011s; never DC-10s.

I did find some OAG guides online using the links posted earlier on this thread, but nothing for early December '85. |

Delta flew the DC 10 on two occasions that I recall. The first was in the early 70's, as a stopgap when there were significant delays in the delivery of the L-1011 from Lockheed. The second was during the mid-80's upon the occasion of the Western Airlines merger. The DC 10 was a mainstay of the WA fleet.
DL operated the DC-10 from 1972 to 1975 and again from 1987 to 1988. Another site for really old (40s/50s/60s) airline timetables is www.timetableimages.com They have some old complete Delta and Northwest schedules from that era. |

Thinking about the flying I've done since, DL 780 that time might have been my one and only L1011 ride. And here I've been thinking for a long time I've never been in that airplane. Neat! |

While trying to track this info down I came across many nice photos of current airlines in old liveries, and of course now defunct airlines.
Quite the trip down memory lane. I spent many an hour in Eastern flights, for example, as for a while I was flying to South America regularly. When they went out of business AA started flying those routes, so racked up many miles there. Again, thanks for the pointers, it is appreciated. |
