Upgrade Inventory Using Regional Cert
 

I searched and searched for what I know is a thread specifically on this topic, but could not find it. So please feel free to merge. Here is my question:

I'm looking for upgrade inventory using my platinum regional upgrade certificate. I've searched using ExpertFlyer and I'm finding plenty of R/O inventory. However, I'm being told those flights do NOT have upgrade inventory.

Per the thread I can't find, it was my understanding that R/O inventory on ExpertFlyer was upgradable using these certs. Has this changed?

If you find R/O then that is the inventory for upgrades using miles or certs. What flights are you looking at and from what fare are you wanting to upgrade? Want to make sure its not one that isn't eligible for regional (such as the jfk-sfo/lax/sea).

Are you finding inventory for your entire one-way journey (all segs) and requesting such, or just finding inventory for one segment of your trip?

If you find inventory for one segment (but not the other) and are requesting an upgrade for just that segment, I'd go ahead and ask them to waitlist you for that specific segment even if they say there is no inventory. I've always had it clear shortly after waitlisting, even when the agents seemed to be (incorrectly) telling me that there was nothing available.
