If you have an EC aisle seat on a TATL flight, in your shoes I would keep that seat. That's a premium seat for such a long flight and regular Y seats (even with an empty middle seat) won't replace the comfort of the extra leg room that an EC seat provides, plus the better service one receives by being in the front portion of the Economy cabin.

I wouldn't move either, but it's worth noting that this changed months ago. I don't remember when exactly it was implemented, but we had free liquor in regular Y in March of this year.

It was changed Dec 15 2013. I had an irrop TPAC Dec 16 which rerouted me NRT SFO MSP YYZ instead of NRT JFK YYZ and bumped me out of EC.
I demand the FA check with the purser when denied my Woodfords qouting this change.

I finally arrived in FCO. Many thanks to those who told me to keep my EC seat. Virtually all the seats I saw as empty two days ago were filled. Only two seats actually were empty; they were both middle seats. Had I have changed to one of those rows I would almost certainly had someone next to me and with less legroom and less recline.

Thanks for reporting the end results! It is always nice to see how these things turn out and if the collective wisdom is correct or not...

Agree with those suggesting to stay put. Standby lists can be very long on TATL flights through the summer months = seats fill up very quickly.

Thanks, QDDawg. Never thought of asking if everyone has actually been *assigned* a seat.

And then you have the NRSA stand-bys that will fill up Y (not just F). Delta's flights have been flying unbelievably full every time I travel. I was on a JFK-SLC segment lately where they cleared 5 F upgrades and over 20 stand-bys, and as a result every one of the 24 F and 156 Y seats went out full.

I would keep the seat in EC, but, I like the leg room, even if it is the middle seat.

You never know until the last minute how full the flight will be. If a recent flight was cancelled, it could be seriously overbooked.

exactly +1 - even ExpertFlyer can change by the hour in those situations.
