Delta FF program
 

I have no idea about the Delta Frequent Flier program and have to decide fast on a credit card offer to convert my points to 150,000 delta miles. My credit card spend would also make me earn about 50,000 miles each year.

Am well aware of the Lufthansa program , being a senator, and of United mileage plus since my wife is a united gold.

I live in Asia and would not be able to board a delta flight till early next year.

Is it mandatory to fly delta every year to keep the miles from expiring ?

Also when would the miles credited to my account this month expire ?

My other airline options are also new to me and all charge the taxes (like lufthansa and unlike United)

I find the United airlines mileage account very easy to manage online ( including free tickets and upgrade award) and suppose Delta will be the same.

Any input would be welcome

Delta miles currently do not expire. The miles credited to your account this month would not expire unless the program rules change to eliminate the "miles never expire" benefit in the future.

I find Delta's website is abysmal compared to United. Finding award tickets is more difficult; the award calendar is broken and sometimes the search results don't include available options. This on top of the fact that UA's award availability at low/saver levels is simply better than DL's to begin with. You also can't process a mileage upgrade online with DL.

Actually I find United is still the best even post devaluation.

Used to be a Pan Am platinum and have done my share of travelling. At the moment all airlines are devaluing their programs.

At the moment my options besides Delta are BA, Etihad, Cathay, Jet airways, Thai and Singapore.

I am trying to avoid paying taxes on free tickets. I do that on lufthansa but the 50% companion award makes up for this.

Given my option of airlines I am wondering what to do.

Those points earned from credit cards are not going to get you to elite levels - if that matters.

And, since this forum is totally about "Delta FF program" - the subject/title is of no value.
