I fly the A330 quite often (AMS-BOS-AMS); more often the -300. Really enjoy this aircraft. On both planes, love 2J; since it is far from the galleys and very quiet. But, the only caveat is since they serve (back to front); you are the last to be served (doesn't bother me that much, though the BOS-AMS red-eye flights are quite short, so that might be an issue for some).

7J (and the entire row 7, first row of the mini-cabin) on the -200 has a very nice "extra shelf" that is quite convenient; as is the "mini-cabin." People seem to stay away from the "mini-cabin," so if it's not a totally full flight, is can also be a bit more empty (most recent flight AMS-BOS was half-full in the "mini-cabin," but entirely full in the larger forward BusinessElite cabin).

That looks nice, I like the fact that there is that extra shelf in row 7 just like on the UD of the 747 with seat 72J. Thanks for the pics, just was I was looking for. I just switched to 7A. Also, so far, I am the only one in the mini cabin for my flights SEA - HKG. So, you are apparently spot on with folks liking the front cabin better.

The BE "pods" in the triple 7 are different in the fact that the window seats face other seats, not the window. It is very hard to look out the window in the triple 7 vs the 744 pods which face the windows.

Haven't had the opportunity to fly 744 J since the retrofit. Plenty of 764, which I really dislike. The footwell is very cramped. The A330 refurb is so much better.

As far as the 744, it was a big deal for DL to refurbish these planes in the first place. IIRC press stories at the time said this decision went all the way to the BOD as there were some real risks keeping them going. They need to keep the frames going into 2018-2020 to get the ROI, but after that at best DL may keep some around for charter and emergency use. That's what NW did with the 742 fleet.

The bulkheads are fine.

Not to mention 1000 times better then the old style BE sleeper angled seats

Well, considering my last Intl trip was in 01 (back in the Barcalounger WBC days), it's clear I was too early for the good old days of Intl J travel (at least as far as hard product goes), although I was around for the good old days of domestic F.

For sleeping, absolutely. Since I like to sleep on overnight flights and will usually even take a nap on a day flight, I definitely prefer the new seats. But... the "bridge" designs like the DL flat beds, where you have a calf rest that meets with a foot rest, do mean that your feet kind of dangle and I can see the appeal of something with a footrest while lounging.

On the plus side for the 767, though, is the side shelf. I really like having the extra space there and it helps keep the seat from feeling claustrophobic, which can be a bit of an issue on the 777. If in a non-bulkhead, I prefer the A330 to the 767, but the 767 bulkheads are really great seats. I prefer all 3 seats to the various flat beds that do not give direct aisle access.

I have to agree about the upstairs... the ultimate flying experience.

I have done that on Korean, AF, JAL, Singapore. Any one of them better than the next.

I do like the upstairs on the 747. And for some reason, I like it a lot better than upstairs on the 380. I think it's because the 747 is a smaller cabin, while the 380 upper deck feels like its own plane.

Officially no. But very poor sales. If that continues for a couple of more years Boeing will have run out of orders to assemble. Will get the Air force 1 contract for the planes in all probability.

They already are running out, and have slowed the line down as much as possible. I think only a few 8i have delivered in 2014 to LH, and a handful of freighters. The freighter was supposed to carry water for the 8i, but the sudden glut of shipping capacity + downtown has left freighter operators looking at empty planes.
